The Egyptian art subject matter focus on the religious beliefs of the afterlife and the political and social structures with the Pharaoh at the pinnacle of the system. Also, the human body is presented with a twisted heavy use of delineation.

In their sculptures, we can see static bodies with no movements and the signs and symbols of the written language known as hieroglyphs. The most important visual element in an Egyptian art is the use of hierarchical scale. Egyptian art and architecture showed an incredible amount of continuity and it remained the same throughout the 3000 years. The ancient Egyptians use the same artistic conventions, traditions, and rules and order to please their pantheon of gods and goddesses. The Egyptian arts are stylized.

The most famous and recognizable architectural creation from the ancient Egypt is the pyramids. There are over 10,000 pyramids from this dynastic period. The pyramid symbolizes and manifests the idea of continuity. In the ancient Egypt, the physical body of the dead was preserved as they believed that the physical shell of the body was needed for the next cycle of life which is considered as the part of the moment. These bodies were mummified and preserved in tombs.

The cation process included the removal of the deceased individual’s bodily organs. Once the organs dried, they (lungs, stomach, intestines, and liver) were placed inside their own respective vessels called canopic jars. These jars then were placed next to the deceased body. Then the coffins were put in a tomb with imagery and hieroglyphs that decorated the tomb walls. The symbols and images engraved on these walls symbolize the peace to protect the Pharaoh inside of the tomb on his journey to the afterlife. The fragment of a wall painting from the tomb of Nebamun showed the desires of the afterlife such as hunting, fishing in less supply of food, and the desire for a family. In the figure, Nebamun and administrative tax accountant are larger in shape than his wife and daughter which indicates the Nebamun’s position and his gendered range within their social scale.

To sum up I can give another example of famous Egyptian arts – is the golden mask of the king Tutankhamun. This mask was the funerary of king Tut. He was buried with this mask and was rested next to his mother. The discovery of this tomb by the archeologist Howard Carter prevented the extinction of this history. The nearly intact tomb of Nebamun held a wealth of objects that has given us unique insights into this period of ancient Egyptian culture.
