A Reflection of My Experience of Riding The Tower of Terror in Disney Land

The memory of fear that stands out the most for me is, the first time that I rode The Tower of Terror. Disney Land is the happiest place on Earth to me. It has a bunch of fun rides and rollercoasters to go on. It was my fourth time at Disney Land. For as long as I can remember my sister had been going on and on about this ride called the ride The Tower of Terror, and how much fun it was. I was very excited to ride it because on previous visits I wasn’t tall enough, I was too young, and wasn’t brave enough. I was eight years old and ready to ride The Tower of Terror.

The ride is designed to look like an old, haunted, abandoned hotel. The inside of the building looks creepy and dusty, with peeling wallpaper and cobwebs. It smelled musty it was creepy. The employees were ushering us throughout the hotel and making elevator and falling jokes. The employees were wearing old-fashioned bellhop costumes with white gloves. The employees looked cold and dead with the makeup they were wearing. Everything they did and said was slow it was making me anxious.

The line takes you through the hotel where there are paintings that are old and dusty. We enter this small room where a video about the twilight zone plays, after the video ends we walk through and go up several flights of stairs into the boiler room. The boiler room is where the musty smell hits you the hardest. As you get to the top of the stairs there are three elevators where people are getting lined up behind the doors and right above them is a very old elevator indicator where you can see what floor the people that are on the ride are on you can also hear there screams which made me nervous to go on the ride. The whole time my dad, sister, and I were in line my sister was talking about how the ride drops you in midair and picks you up takes you to the very top of the building where you can look at the park in pitch black I wasn’t very excited for that part I almost wanted to not go on the ride. As we were about to get on the ride I saw the people who went before us coming out looking disheveled and ecstatic at the same time which made me excited to go on the ride yet scared at the same time from just seeing the faces of the previous riders.

When we finally got onto the ride, we were let into the elevator we sat down buckled up and tightened in. They go through this little introduction creepy video about how were in the same elevator people have died in. next they drop us but not to far just a small drop and all the lights are out so we can’t see my heart is pounding, I can feel it. The next thing we know were being dropped again and again I started to scream as loud as I could. Next thing we know is were going straight up a quick couple of flashes and then drop. We jerk to a stop and I had finally stopped screaming and thought we were done, nope, were taken back to the top and dropped again. Finally we stop and the voice comes back over giving us warnings to next time beware going on a haunted elevator. I felt like I was invincible after surviving The Tower of Terror.

In Conclusion, you should never let anything get in the way of having fun. You only live once; I learned from this experience that in life there is always going to be things that scare me but I can always overcome them. I now will try to overcome all of my fears. I realized that fear is a four-letter word, but so is love. I learned that I love to face my fears because it makes me stronger. My parents always tell me that I can do anything I put my mind to. I went from being really scared to wanting to ride The Tower of Terror again. Next time your scared remember that you can’t let fear rule your life.
