Alcohol is a symbol of celebration and festivities. It becomes a part of the culture and way of life. Some countries even compare holding your liquor to your dignity and that says a lot! But having too much of this indulgence can lead to unwanted consequences and we mean, imprisonment and death. Yes, you read that right. Well the thing is, the government needs you to abide by the laws to keep peace and harmony among the society of free drinkers! We don’t want to turn a good night of alcohol and booze into something… morbid.

Hold your liquor because here are some fun facts about how countries differ in Alcohol Laws compared to the United States of America.

  • United States of America Other Countries
  • Indiana
  • You need appetizers to go with your beer

You cannot order beer alone. The law states that you’ll need a way to offer people food. Well, it seems like a good combo right? The food can be sandwiches, fries, milk, coffee, and soft drink. It’s really a win-win here. Scotland

No cow driving when drunk

Your drunken self can really take you places and could even heed you to propel a cow. That is a no in Scotland! It is a criminal offense to drunk drive a cow that could lead to serious damages. Yes, it’s a law.

Maine

Liquor Ban on Sundays!

It is illegal to procure liquor on an early Sunday morning in Maine. You can start your beer session when 9 am strikes though! But, there is an exception to the law: St. Patrick’s Day which gives you the right to start your beer at 6 am. Germany

No bicycle driving when boozed up

Weirdly enough, you’ll get sentenced to a grueling psychological exam in Germany when you drunk drive a bicycle. Noticed that you’re also smashed so you’re probably going to fail that exam that would lead in losing your license and served you your first criminal offense.

Utah

The Zion Curtain

Most of Utah’s population are Mormons and in their belief, you need to abstain from drinking alcohol as it is considered a sin. Hence, the Zion Curtain was made. The bartenders mix drinks and cannot be seen (shield from eye’s view of customers). You can have a drink made for you one at a time only. Also, the drinks are measured by the amount of alcohol intake and weight percentage. El Salvador

Drunk Drivers could get sentenced to death on first offense!

You might want to take it easy on the intake when you are in El Salvador. They take drunk driving seriously and there is a possibility that you can face the death penalty as your first offense. Good news: you die not in a lethal injection type. Bad news: you get humiliated by getting shot at by a firing squad of El Salvador!

Nevada

Open 24/7!

Some have strict laws but Nevada is all supportive of its liquor laws. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and liquors can be sold to stores and supermarkets! Drunk drive in public and it is still okay when you’re in Vegas! United Kingdom

Too much booze is a crime

If you’re looking for a caring club, go to the UK. You are responsible for your own safety but the club/pub owners also make sure you do not drink too much. It is illegal there to let you overindulged.
