An elephant that took a frog type of leap

Born April 10th 1993, exactly 11:30pm in Evergreen Park, IL at the hospital of little company of Mary. From first thought of mind as a new born baby; determination, ambition, and perseverance has always been me. Although I never knew what those words were, heard of them, nor understood the meaning as most babies do not. It was what I vowed my life to be. It’s a known fact that most new babies do not know how to move them self’s like turning in an incubator. But at three days old I Breona Annette Gamble did. I couldn’t tell you if I was reaching for something in particular, but everyone was amazed.

Growing up on the south side of Chicago practically raised by my grandparents being educationally lazy was not an option .My grandparents migrated from Millbrook and Autauga Ville Alabama where school became null and void once old enough to work. Along with their vows, they promised themselves that their children and their children’s children would not have that as an option as well. That promise had definitely been kept. Although one has passed on and the other in critical condition my grandparents promise is everything to me. Because of that my drive becomes stronger. My passions become deep love. Senior year of high school while it was time to apply to a school of my choice it was difficult. Not because I got denied from anywhere but because I was scared.

March 2011 I made the bold step to attend an out of state institution for my college matriculation. Savannah State University located in the historic city Savannah Georgia. A historically black college/university in which I’ve never dreamed I would start my adult life at, leaving my family and friends in Chicago. August 18th 2011 I moved in and said my goodbyes to all the people I loved and from that day I would be writing a page in my dream book of justified life. The questions I would ask my self was how could a big city girl jump to another side of the country to be by her to learn about life in a smaller town. This journey wasn’t easy, but at the end of the day I made it in three and a half years. My goal has always been to graduate early from college to start on my dreams or to even learn what my dream really is.

Surely you have seen my resume of all the great things that I have been up to for the past three and a half years in college. So reiterating would be pointless. Instead I’d rather explain why most of these things of involvement were necessary for me and how they made me love law more. I joined the well-known phi alpha delta law fraternity international pre law chapter at savannah state. Law is life because life is justice to all mankind. What else could we do without freedom or guidelines to help everyone out with movement practices?

Working with United way of coastal Georgia (hands on savannah) for the academic year I was an intern it was strictly volunteer. From going on sight sees to hosting their largest global youth service day for a whole week on my campus was more than a great opportunity and blessing. In this situation working on some one senses time and focus was definitely a struggle. The gist of all things was community Service. Gather different types of people to do a great thing for the city’s youth and adults. We gathered different companies and I learned the do’s and the do not’s of certain companies for their usual purposes. But for the most part vey open. For me it’s been a long road to achievements everyone could say they strive to be the best but how many can honestly say the road was or is easy, NO ONE! If no one can work for or fail for what exactly they want it’s not meant for them. I have failed many of time been told no many times but at the end of the day I kept going until I got it. When I did reach my goal only then did I feel like that was the correct times for me to have what I had earned.

While dealing with great nonprofits I believe networking is very important. To network with other people so that you may be of help and they might too. As most people would say, networking to build a better net worth. To me I do not do the things I do for me it’s mainly to make the places here I am better. I always ask myself how people are getting an equal (justified chance if you or someone else cannot be of assistance. Now I am not a pageant type of person but truly everyone has a purpose and a port of it is to help someone else out for the greater good. This is why community services are so important to me for any matriculation I am at. Community service is very important to me. Personally I do not believe it should be mandated as a requirement because as a person who has a heart and care about your surroundings you should want to do it. Community service consists of very many different things. From feeding the homeless, planting flowers, cleaning streets donations and much greater thing community service is great for the community as well as the heart. This is something I would love to keep pogoing with any campus community.

So it goes back to wind blowing mid may south side of Chicago riding passenger to my grandfather down lakeshore drive. Enjoying all the beautiful sights smiling because at that moment nothing was better than being in that can. Ole duce and a quarter (Buick) educating myself on my city. Whoever would have thought this windy city girl came back home to lakeshore drive driving the car whispering to the heavens saying I did it for you papa, it was all a dream now reality.
