An Analysis of The Pictures Representing My Convergence and Personality

My convergence explains who I am in many different ways. I chose a shape that symbolizes my beliefs and several of my current and past activities. The pictures I chose each stand for something unique about my very busy life. Some reflect activities and interests I have while others reflect my personality and character. Many aspects of my life are portrayed on my convergence and it paints a picture of my identity.

The shape of my convergence is a cross, which represents my involvement in my church and youth group. My family and I attend the Willow Church of the Nazarene and have been members there for thirteen years. I have been active in my youth group since I was in the seventh grade, and I have loved it since then. I have attended many camps and activities with my youth group. I am close to all of the members of my youth group and consider some of them as family. Many of my friends from school belong to the same youth group, and it is very involved in the community. The cross symbol is extremely meaningful to me.

I chose to include a picture of me in my marching band uniform. I have been a member of the Willow Marching Band since my freshman year. I have lettered every year in band so far and have played multiple instruments throughout high school. I took piano lessons when I was younger, so this picture not only illustrates my involvement in band but also my musical interests, abilities, and school pride. I enjoy marching at all the home football games and performing at many band competitions each year.

I used a picture from when I was young and participated in local rodeos as well. My younger brother and I would sometimes ride the mechanical bull while at these rodeos but sheep were the only real animals our mother would allow us to ride. I always had fun at rodeos because they fascinated me from a young age. Riding sheep and attending rodeos was something we liked to do with our grandpa. My grandpa died of cancer when I was eight years old and I have many fond memories of attending rodeos with him. We would sometimes drive two hours away just to ride sheep. This picture symbolizes a large part of my childhood.

The picture of me in the back of my dad’s truck shows the countless hours I have spent hunting with my dad. We go turkey and deer hunting every year at our hunting property in Iowa. I am a more accomplished turkey hunter than a deer hunter, and I would say that I enjoy turkey hunting the most. Nonetheless, hunting has been a significant part of my life since I was old enough to hold up a gun, partly because of the great memories I have of spending time with my family during deer season. It is a hobby that I have gradually gotten better at over the years, but I’ve always enjoyed it the same. My grandpa, my father, and my uncle have taught me a lot about hunting and it’s a way my family likes to spend time together.

The picture of me in my Boy Scout uniform stands for the years I have spent in scouts and everything I accomplished during this time. I joined the scouts in kindergarten and became an Eagle Scout earlier this year. I have attended many camps and camp-outs with the scouts and have earned twice the required number of merit badges to receive my Eagle Scout Award. My dad was an Eagle Scout and my younger brother is working toward receiving his. One could say scouting runs in our family.

The last picture I chose is one of me reading the newspaper as a child. This picture reflects how much I enjoy learning from the time I started kindergarten. I have always done well in school and take great pride in my grades. Even as a child I would ask questions and want to understand things that most kids my age didn’t care about. My curiosity about everything had advanced as I have grown older. I am a member of the National Honor Society and I work hard to maintain my grade point average. I take school seriously and I understand the importance of higher education. I plan to attend a college university after I graduate high school, pursue a career in accounting and eventually start my own business. This picture stands for all my academic goals.

My life can be represented by countless pictures. The pictures I chose to portray on my convergence give insight to specific hobbies and traits I am deeply involved in. Whether it’s marching band, hunting, Boy Scouts, or my involvement in my church; I put a lot of time into the things I enjoy. Everybody has different traits about their life that make them unique, and our traits define who we are.
