After researching the prison systems in my state of Pennsylvania, I found two treatment programs that got offered to inmates. This paper will get provided to the department headin Centervale. The paper will answer a series of questions that will address the legislature towards solving for the budget cut.

Discussion

The first program I am going to talk about is the High-Intensity Violence Prevention Programthat got offered to the male and female inmates in the State Prisons ofPennsylvania. The program got provided to meet the needs of violent inmates (Scott et al. 2015). This cognitive behavioral-based treatment program offers appropriate skills for the inmate for dealing with their violence positively. This program can only be accomplished and used through tabletop exercises, use of modeling and role-playing and some in-cell assignments(Weber et al. 2015). This program has multiple attributes which target different intensity level which tends to individualized needs. Inmates enter this program by signing up in the voluntary list. When the list arrives at a specific name, that person has to go through some behavioral tests which will make him or her eligible for this program. The purpose of the program is to learn communication skills, determine how to gauge other peoples mental status, confront others in a group and use assertive behavior against aggressive behavior.

I would recommend this program to Clayton as it achieves the overall criteria of all inmates towards leaving violent cognitive behavior and adapt to more subtle and calm demeanor. This method is exceptionally productive through the use of modeling, role-playing, and homework assignments. Another effective way towards learning non-violent alternatives is through participating in group sessions, all of which can get achieved through the integration of violence prevention program in the state prisons. Other voluntary programs which occur once every three months include long-term offender program which is offered to the inmates and lifers serving sentences of ten years or more in prison(Bachman et al. 2016). Addressing adjustment issues is the purpose of the program and identifying ways which can make life easy in prison. Inmates who meet the minimum expiration requirements and are outside of this window can enter this program voluntarily.

However, the priority lies for those inmates in an early stage of their long sentence. The program got used in a way which it got addressed over a phase of two years in length. The revised plan is thoroughly researched and is carried out in 34 sessions, which means that the inmate has to attend the program once every week for approximately 90 minutes. The program has multiple interventions which address cognitive behavior and utilization concepts, all of which got included in the treatment program. This program has a peer assistant and a peer facilitator, the peer assistant is a lifer or a long-term inmate, whereas the facilitator is the trainer who trains the assistants and provides the treatments(Forchuk et al. 2015). The assistant is a role model for his inmates and also a support to the facilitator. The purpose of the peer assistant in the program is to help keep the group on task, aid in the delivery of the program content, role play with the facilitator and give insight during discussions that got held in the program meetings.

I would recommend this program to Clayton because it keeps track of all the activity that has a positive influence for the inmates and provide a right path for them to follow and learn un-violent and acceptable behavior.

Conclusions

I believe that these programs provide a perfect presentation which will help the budget cuts and also help Clayton compare Centervale programs with Pennsylvania’s programs from this research.
