Tea leaves are mixed substances which contain chemical compounds having medicinal properties. There are various kinds of tea such as Green tea, Flavored tea, Black tea and Instant tea etc. are available. Among these Black tea is common in Bangladesh.

Types of Tea Leaves

Tea leaves are processed in the Tea factories to produce an acceptable product for human consumption. There are various kinds of tea, such as, Black tea, Green tea, Flavored tea, Instant tea etc. All are processed in different methods.

Black tea

Black tea is common in Bangladesh. Tea shouts are fermented during processing of black tea. The liquor is uniform reddish-black in color. Recently 98% of international trade is in black tea.

Green tea

Green tea is produced and consumed mainly in China, Japan and Formosa. These processed without fermentation, by steaming the shoots. The color of green tea liquor should be greenish or lemon yellow, with no trace of red or brown color and the liquor should remain clear on cooling. A green tea infusion delivers up its caffeine more quickly than on black tea.

The chemical composition of the tea leaves is of interest mainly because of the reactions that take place during its manufacture. Tea leaves are mixed substances, which contain several chemical compounds having medicinal properties. Chemical composition of tea leaves depends on their types.

There are more than 100,000 commercially available dye exist and more than 7×105 tons per year are produced annually. Wastewater containing dyes is very difficult to treat, since the dyes are recalcitrant organic molecules, resistant to aerobic digestion and are stable to light. Synthetic dyes in wastewater cannot be efficiently decolorized by traditional methods. This is because of the high cost and disposal problems for treating dye wastewater at large scale in the textile and paper industries.

The technologies for color removal can be divided into three categories: Biological, Chemical and Physical. All of them have advantages and drawbacks. Table2 shows a several reported methods for the removal of pollutants from effluents.
