Some people think that a vegan diet is healthy because it reduces the risk of several illnesses such as heart conditions, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. However, the argument is controversial and other people believe that vegetarian lifestyle is dangerous for the nutritional balance. I believe a vegan diet does not necessarily mean a healthy lifestyle. Many vegan people are more likely to suffer from iron deficiency, lack of vitamin or mineral and not all vegan foods are good. An adequate iron is necessary for health. Low iron supply may cause anemia and weaken immunity. Most of the iron we need comes from red meat or fish. Only 30% of this iron supply is absorbed by the human body. Vegetables contain iron too, but only 1 to 5% of this iron is absorbed and not enough to support our daily needs. Moreover, according to dieticians, vegetarian diet needs almost twice the daily-recommended amount of iron compared to non-vegetarian.
