Equal Rights Amendment is an extension of the Nineteenth Amendment in the United States Constitution (Pavlich, 2014). Proposed in 1923, it advocated for equal rights and treatment of all United States Citizen, regardless of the sex. It also advocated for use of necessary power and influential tools to ensure that the right was implemented (Pavlich, 2014). The amendment should be enacted as women rights have been violated over the years at their workplace through a glass ceiling.

There is a need to have ERA enacted to minimize barriers to job entries for women and preordained roles for them in certain industries. In some instances women are not allowed to make their own health decisions. Women’s lives and that of their families are highly affected especially in the light of increase in single mother parenthood.

Hillary Clinton is making appeals to the women population through her previous works in fighting for their rights. Clinton has been fighting for ERA to be enacted and women to finally experience total financial independence (Morrow & Stone, 2016). This she achieved by the introduction of the Paycheck Fairness Bill that advocates for equal pay for both men and women and reduction in workplace discrimination.

Clinton advocates for increase in minimum pay, this is because more than two thirds of the minimum paid employs in America are women. Paid leave is also part of the Amendment to be enacted (Morrow & Stone, 2016). Women go on longer maternity leave as compared to their male counterparts, in an effort to improve child care and progress living conditions; women should be paid while on maternity and annual leave.
