The largest threats to the natural environment are the pollution that is being caused by the amount of activity by either factory farming or the number of other key sources. Humans are responsible for keeping this planet sustainable by finding out their true reasonability with the natural environment and learning how to protect it. Taking care of the natural environment is like thinking about the Gaia Hypothesis which is the goddess of life, and how people need to treat the planet like the goddess of life did many centuries ago (Thiele, 88).In the article named “Fueled by Pollution and Unsound Policies, Toxic Algae Overtake Florida Beaches” by Environmental and Health Florida has been hit terribly by the red tide which was made worse with the fillers of pollution. Throughout the state Julie Dermansky traveled researching and taking pictures of the red tide in key parts of Florida which she visited to fill out data on areas hit hardest with the red tide like Lake Okeechobee. This water is then released with some of the red tide that is polluted into the east and west sections of the river that lead up to Fort Myers and Cape Coral and is now threatening local wildlife such as alligators, snapping turtles, and millions of fish that fall victim to the pollution.

'Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned'?

She talked to several Floridians who are planning to vote for the clean water cleanup (Fueled by Pollution and Unsound Policies).During the “Thinking like a planet: There is no away”, The lector was to touch upon the issues of people having the out of sight out of mind type approach and being practical by seeing the world in another view, and not discount the future as what it is. The main point of this is people are so used to the fact of just throwing away things and ending up in landfills can shape the way we look at the natal environment and how we can shape our children lives that they have to face the consequences that their parents could have a choice instead of throwing that piece of paper or trash out the car window can have an effect on the environment through animals getting it or leading to pollution.

Humans are evolving to be tribal animals and communities is the basis of ethical life within society now. One of the facts I want to expand on from the chapter is the section regarding pollution and how it is harmful to our planet and daily living styles. Every day in the natural world more and more water and food supplies are being polluted and this will cause deadly chain-reacting in the world. Each day that we live we suffer by being hit with one or all the Eight different types of pollutions which range from air, water, soil, noise, radioactive, light, thermal, and visual pollution. In this section of the essay we will focus on the air and soil pollution as I believe these are the worst since they do the most harm over a long period of time. In an article I found, it stated that soon if the world cannot find a way to reduce the number of chemicals being released into the air this will cause an event called acid rain. A reason why acid rain is bad due to it falling into aqueducts where drinking water is being held for a city and cause many health-related problems, especially in huge cities like New York that rely on water for their gardens and food supplies. As the population increases so does the need for our food supply.

With pollution it makes this goal of growing sustainable food a lot harder when the soil and the ground become decimated with man-made chemicals being either thrown away in landfills or being just plain dumped out when people are finished with them. When electric items get thrown away they produce chemicals to leak out that contain various things such as lead, mercury, etc. Not only does this mess with the natural balance of the soil but it also pollutes the drinking water for humans and the water going to trees. Another huge problem is factory farms which hold livestock as this increases the amount of nearly 400 different types of harmful gases which include nitrous oxide, methane, carbon dioxide, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide (How Factory Farming Creates Air Pollution). In Dr. Thiele’s book it was stated that a single factory farm can produce over a thousand of pounds of slurry which can cause serious problems when it combines with the other gases in the sky (Thiele, 85).

Throughout the world, there is one country which stands at the top of the most polluted in the world: India, and one of its cities is Kanpur. Within the city, the residents deal with bad air quality due to the indoor and outdoor pollution caused by cooking with polluting fuels and technologies. The pollution is so bad that a lot of people are getting sick, with 24 percent suffering heart disease, 25 percent suffering by stroke, 43 percent from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and 29 percent were from lung cancer (India Tops World).Illness can take the form of minor sicknesses such as skin rash and eye irritation up to major sickness such as cancer and kidney and liver damage. Not only humans can get sick animals can suffer the same diseases as well ( What Is Soil Pollution). Depending on how much of the soil is polluted it can even kill plants that are there for us to create medicines and it sometimes even kills animals that live near or drink the water where it drains out. There are various ways to make sure the soil is safe. One of the basic ways it to send the soil to be tested for the chemicals at a local lab to make sure it is safe to grow things or allow children to play. There are ways the world can also help reduce the risk and spread of air pollution. One of the ways is to not support factory farms since they are one of the hotspots for causing the most harm by polluting the water supplies with massive amounts of waste from animals being in cages. This causes the waste to be drawn into the soil and into the water supplies and the amount of different gases mixing with the natural air.

Ways to reduce your impact from factory farms is by searching farms that have systems to take care of the waste by draining into a separate pool. Another method is switching out cars with electric cars that do not produce pollutants such as carbon dioxide. To avoid landfill leakage, take electric items to places that have specially built recycle bins for taking electronic waste apart for storage. One of the last ways you can learn how to not pollute is by joining environmental and sustainability classes on campus to learn the dangers of being a polluter.
