Female Infanticide

It’s a girl. Three words dreaded by people living in China, India, Pakistan, and many more countries. For many girls who are born in these places, their birthday is also their day of death. Imagine being drowned, starved, or even strangled by your parents! Imagine that little girl, and the life she had before her. Imagine what her future held for her. Yet it all vanished in a matter of seconds because she was born a girl.

Female Infanticide is the intentional act of murdering or abandoning newborn babies all because they were born a GIRL. The act of Female Infanticide is extremely disturbing and horrible, a fact which makes us want to stop it, but how? There are many ways to stop Female Infanticide. One of them is education. We could raise money to be able to send these many young girls to school, and show their families that they too are just as capable of doing things just as well as the men of their countries. Another way to prevent Female Infanticide is to change the world’s opinion on these young women and girls. Many countries see the girls of their society as worthless, an object to be owned by others or something that is useless compared to men. However, that is false. Marie Curie a physicist opened a lot of doors for both men and women as she discovered radium and other key elements. This discovery can help those getting X-ray. Being a woman did not stop her from achieving academic success. Women should be able to get jobs, find their own lover, and choose to do whatever they please in life.

Finally without a woman, how are we to continue the life cycle and create a new generation of young people? Now that you understand what the young females of the world have to go through, I hope you appreciate your freedom and ability to choose what your life holds for you, which is something these girls sadly aren't able to do.
