Born a Titan Phoebe who is an ancient but not very well known greek goddess who has intriguing family. “Phoebe is part of the first generation of Titans, who ruled during the Golden Age” as Linda wisely stated. The word “Titan” stands for Mighty strength, people say its a huge understatement as soon as they hear the tales about the Older Titans. Phoebe represents brightness and is also associated with the Moon. She is also the descendants of Uranus (god of the sky) and Gaea (goddess of the earth).

As Well as her female siblings, she was not ever associated with the war that took place with the Olympian gods as well as Titan gods and goddesses. Phoebe married her brother Coeus and gave birth to 2 kids, Asteria and Leto; Asteria is Phoebe's first female offspring and is also a goddess of prophecies as well as oracles, she is overwhelmingly attractive like her mother as a matter of fact Zeus the god of the sky and leader of Olympian gods tried to ‘entice her into sexual activity’ her so she had to disappear to an island to escape his pursuit. The island she lived on became known as Delos which is now an important greek Island. Leto became the goddess of motherhood as well as the goddess of modesty. She was extraordinarily beautiful and got the consideration of Zeus like her sister Asteria did however the difference was that she didn't reject him or fleed, she actually got pregnant for Zeus and this made Zeus's wife envious and she pursued Leto and prevented her from having a baby but she eventually wounded up on Delos and was able to reproduce; she gave birth to twins one was Sorinmade named Apollo and one was named Artemis.Phoebe is not a very popular Titan.

However, she is surrounded by a couple of myths like the “ Oracle of Delphi “. “The Oracle of Delphi is the most important shrine in Greece in fact it was built around a sacred spring and was considered to be the center of the world” as mythology.net took notice of, She eventually became the prophet at the shrine and it was speculated that she peeped her mother's voice while in the oracle. Previously Gaea her mother and Themis her sister were the prophets. Overtime Phoebe's sister left the great job to her daughter Themis who sooner or later gave the role to her sister Phoebe. But the work was too hectic for Phoebe who passed down the responsibility to Apollo, Apollo is Phoebe's grandson who inherited it on his birthday and became the guardian of the Oracle of Delphi. As a result he gained a fame for having “prophetic powers greater than the heavens “(Geller 2008) Another legend about Phoebe is that she is the goddess of the moon as claimed by people while others say she is being confused with Selene who is the actual goddess of the moon.

If phoebe was the goddess of the moon she would be more known and would have beneficial powers like being able to fly, ability to repel, attract objects and the ability to allure lightning to mention just a few. There is a debate that even if she was not a well known goddess, her legacy lies in her grandson Apollo. In conclusion, Phoebe might not be one of the well known Titans we read today but the myth about her lives on and her legacy can be seen in her grandson Apollo.
