Medical Issues of Kidney Failure and Mrsa Infection in Trust Me I Am a Junior Doctor by Max Pemberton

My book is “Trust me I am a junior doctor” is written by Max Pemberton, published in 2008. The book talks about junior doctor max and his junior doctor colleagues and their struggle, challenge of the cases that have been through their journey at first year in hospital. Will this book explain many medical issue and disease; kidney failure, MRSA infection and more other medical issues. I choose these two medical issues because some people don’t have much knowledge about these diseases and it very common disease. Moreover, the book talks about these diseases in a more detailed.

Firstly, we all know the job of the Kidney. The main function of the kidney is to filtrate waste, remove toxins and fluid in form of urine that consist of the waste product that harm our body, if the kidney stop doing their job it will causes kidney failure. There are many reasons it may cause Kidney failure, when there is something stop blood flow to the kidney, something block the urine from going out the kidney or it be direct damage of the kidney. It mostly happen to people who have diabetes and high blood pressure but some time it may come to no diabetes people for couple hour and it goes after we treat it immediately or the failure will get worse depending in the way of the patient responding to the treatment. Sometime people who have kidney failure will feel that they have back pain, high fever, nose bleeding and belly pain. The way that the doctor diagnosis this disease by doing blood test, urine test or they remove kidney tissue, usually for treating this disease the doctor remove toxins from the patient body, balance the fluid and restore calcium in the body. However, some people that have serious kidney failure they will have to get a new kidney or get their kidney dialysis every month.

The second issue in the book is a disease that happens in the skin because of an infection called MRSA infection. MRSA is methicillin-resistant stophy lococus aureus its look like sores or boils, discovered in 1961. This type of infection is resistant to antibodies like methicillin, amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin and many other common antibodies. They're some people that don’t get infected but they carry the bacteria that causes this infection. However, some people that carry the bacteria get minor skin problem. Moreover they mostly let the staph bacteria travel to other person by touching or they touch something like chair or table and the healthy person will get the staph bacteria and get infected by touching it.

To be protected of getting this infection the doctor advice people they have to wash their hands, cover the wound or cut and don’t let any other person use your personal item, by doing the small things you protect yourself from getting an infection or carry the staph bacteria. In this situation doctor diagnosis this disease by doing lap test like a blood test, urine test and sputum. This infection it start by swollen painful redness area in the skin that resemble pimples or spider bites, it cause fever and it will get warm if we touch the swollen part. They still don’t have the cure for the infection because like the writer said it resistant to some antibodies. However if infected people take antibodies they don’t have to stop from taking it if they stop maybe the staph bacteria survive and the doctor need to reduce this infection by incision the infected area and drain the Bactria.

To sum up, I have enjoy the book so far. While I am reading the book, I felt like I am with the main character when they face hard cases and when they will solve it, also the two issue that I had talked about them get my attention more because I didn’t know kidney job is to filtrate waste into urine, the kidney failure happen when there is direct damage in the kidney. Mostly happen to diabetes patient, to treat the failure; to get a new kidney or dialysis the kidney every month. For MRSA is an infection happen in the skin and it resistant to antibodies, they still don’t have cure but they can reduce it by incision it and drain the bacteria.
