Thirteen days, or what I saw of it, was an excellent movie. It demonstrated power, of the President (John Fitzgerald Kennedy at the time), America’s powers, and worst of all, it showed what the government can hide from us civilians. John Kennedy demonstrated power throughout this whole movie. When ever someone else tried to walk all over his toes, he would say “NO ONES MAKING THE DECISIONS HERE EXCEPT ME!…I’M THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!” and I really liked that he wanted to control HIS nation. He showed excellent leadership skills throughout the whole movie. When he didn’t want the nation to know about Cuba’s plan attack, the nation didn’t know. And when he decided it was time for them to find out, he told everyone. He took care of America in this movie, and situation…hell I’m glad we had Kennedy then instead of Bush, could you imagine how big of a mess that would have been?

Cuba had missiles, nuclear missiles that belonged to Russia, in their possession. I don’t understand why these little, not quite so developed countries always insist on trying to start stuff with America. First off, we’re the most developed, our military is the best, and we have one thing they don’t-freedom. Why people would want to threat a place like this, fathoms me. I loved the part in the movie, when all the nations had met up and Russia denied any nuclear weapons at all. And the American guy brought in the pictures and made him look like a total loser. It was a great experience, and fun times were had. It scares me how the government can hide such crucial information from the people that inhabit it’s country, and make their jobs AND SALARIES possible. Although Kennedy and the government TOLD us, they should have told civilians sooner. What if Cuba would have decided to blast off early? I think it’s disrespectful to a point, when you have to hide valuable, and crucial information from people who support you, and look up to you. What if Iran, Iraq, or Afghanistan, had “top secret” deadly information they were sharing with our government and hiding from us people? I Understand WHY they hid the information, to keep the country out of chaos and in sanity. It’s probably best they did, there would have been an increase in all the protesters, violence and flees for fear of a draft. Yet I would have wanted to have been told if I was alive in that time period. When I was a little kid, my grandpa, a history teacher for a high school, had always told me John Fitzgerald Kennedy was a good guy, and he was probably the best president we had ever had. I have always liked John F. Kennedy, and after seeing this movie, I began to like him even more. He demonstrated so much strength in this movie, and that what it takes for a job like that, you need to be smart, compromising, and caring for your people. And JFK had his thoughts in order. I would have definitely voted for this man, and as I stated earlier, I’m glad we had Kennedy then, or America might not currently be on the map.We should watch this movie again Mr. Crosthwaite. Since I didn’t really get to see it all. That just upsets me, it’s not my fault I got walking pneumonia L. If I were to rate this movie, the big nerd I am would give it a 6/5. Even though I really didn’t finish it, I enjoyed it very much.
