My Motivation to Take Part in Chevening Scholarship

As a young leader, I have had to work myself around building excellent interpersonal skills that are suitable for helping institutions achieve what they set out to do. This has enhanced my ability to effectively and efficiently work under minimum supervision. In my professional career as a medical doctor, the job at hand requires a selfless commitment to serving everyone with empathy, autonomy, and beneficence. I have achieved these classics by being a great team player with strong networking skills in this noble profession. In my capabilities as a medical professional, I represent the ministry of health this has enabled me to build on the trust that the carrier entrusts with us by working on a key competency area for effective leadership which is; interpersonal/communication skills. In addition, I possess knowledge of the healthcare industry, technical skills, analytical/conceptual skills, and with these, it has seemingly been easy to sell myself in so doing create and maintain long-lasting relationships with stakeholders,individual contacts while also exploring new ones. The approach that I believe has enabled such closure is effective communication. Be it in showing interest with a personal enthusiastic approach, professional emails, feedback, and mutual respect.

In this 21st century, social media remains a key component in networking mostly in the world of elites but also has taken a course in building fields ranging from medical to agriculture sectors. I currently belong to LinkedIn and manage my personal medical consultancy advisory blog which allows me to connect to my patients daily. I also follow pages like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and have personalized them to business pages for potent contacts with mutual professional interests. In fact, I learned about Chevening scholarship through an advert on one of these pages. So, it is literally impossible to miss an opportunity while I am social media active be it a business venture, or any resounding opportunity.

In addition, the UN secretariat takes it seriously to ensure that its workforce is equipped with outstanding networking skills to be able to work in a challenging diverse union of people from different backgrounds and adapt to the fast pace evolving world of technology. Being part of this family has brought numerous opportunities to develop these skills in question.

In concluding, I intend to build on these interpersonal skills that I have accumulated over time in addition to the benefit of being exposed to the Chevening community which I believe to be enriched with strong networking skill sets. My future goals to maintain effective and strong networking skills as an aspiring leader I will work on creating a website which will provide health care assistance and locate available resources to potentially finance the health sector in Rwanda.
