My Scholarship Journey

A very good evening to the respected CEO’s and Founders, rector, dean, lecturers, parents, and the special guest who have come all away from Jakarta, Mr. Riady and his family. First of all, I would like to thank God Almighty because of His grace and blessing on us, we can gather on this event without having any shortcoming. At this moment, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gilbert, and I am very honored and delighted to be standing here as a representative of this academic year’s scholarship awardees.

Ladies and gentlemen. On this joyous occasion, let me first congratulate the scholars on receiving their scholarship at UPH Medan. Like most of you here, I was very excited back then to receive this scholarship, because of this scholarship it will help me a lot to unlock countless opportunities and my true potential –just like this, standing in front all of you as a representative awardee.

Dear my fellow audiences, standing here today I would like to share a little about my scholarship; then what comes to your mind, when you hear a word of “Scholarship?”. Well I can say that in my opinion, it was something that really precious for me, because choosing to get a scholarship need a lot of hard work and sacrifices; but then I remembered that when there’s a will, there’s a way. I can say that achieve scholarship is one of my life-goal. I’ve been dreaming to get a scholarship since I was in senior high school, but it didn’t go smoothly until it was the day, where I have to think about my future, about which path that I should take in my life right after graduate.

So, I decided to enroll at UPH Medan and it is the best decision I’ve ever made in my life not only because of UPH Medan offers their academic excellence but also because I awarded as a silver scholarship at here. My acceptance of being a scholar at UPH Medan has also given me the confidence to pursue a higher education in Business Management study, within this UPH Medan has made my dream of being entrepreneur seems more attainable and I wish that I can be an inspirational entrepreneur because there is an undeniable satisfaction that comes from inspiring others. I quoted that “To be an achiever is great but to be an achiever who helps others become achievers as well, is a whole new level of greatness.”

Above all, UPH Medan also provides everything that their students needs of, example like international curriculum with world-class standard, technological innovations, excellence facilities, holistic education and last but not the least the important thing is that UPH Medan have the highly qualified lecturers by their professionally on the field of study that they master in. It makes me feels like this is the university that I’ve been seek for my life.

For me, education is the passport to the better future, in this case I need to prepare it very carefully, known that I’ll be something useful for me later. I would not be here today if it weren’t because of UPH Medan scholarship, and the fullest support from my beloved parents because of them my goal of furthering my studies in a university fully accomplished; moreover, goals are important in life. So set a goal, work smart towards it and enjoy the feeling of success when you have achieved your goal.

Before I end my speech, I would like to share with you my life motto: “First say to yourself what would you like to be and do what you have to do for it, always appreciate and acknowledge the people around you for the things that they have done to you in any way –always be strong to face everything and if you ever feel that you can’t go any further, take a break but don’t ever settle and give yourself some time for an breather to refresh.”

Lastly, congratulation on receiving the scholarship my colleague. I wish you all the best as you and me embark the journey with UPH Medan. It has been a wonderful feeling to stand here and meet every person in this room, I wish all of you have a memorable and meaningful evening. Thank you
