In a world with rapid advancements and people with busy schedules, “staying healthy” has become the greatest trial. This is why we say that well-being is the greatest gift one could gift him or herself and family. Because of this, the medical expenses are soaring day by day with the never-ending demand for the same. Anyone would love to have health protection to cover themselves from the potential damages. The problem is that not everyone is financially sound to afford a health care strategy. We consider the United States of America as the number one wealthiest, most advanced country in the world. It is true. But do you know that before 2010, or let’s say before Barack Obama became the president there were millions of citizens who were not in a financially stable state to obtain health coverage? This essay is about the Affordable Care Act, also identified as Obamacare and what it signifies for the Americans.

What is Obamacare?

Nearly a decade back which means on 23rd of March 2010, Barack Obama, an ex-president of the United States of America authorized the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare to make health coverage more affordable and attainable to all Americans. When Barack Obama resumed office as the president of the United States of America, 45 million citizens were unprotected. A growing count of American employees had cut health protection from their compensations. The increasing cost of health attention became the lead cost for personal bankruptcies, foreclosures and family crises. So the new president executed health care reformations as his chief mission. One month after his inauguration, which means in February 2009, Obama delivered a speech to Congress announcing his ministrations for reforms. With lots of compromises and inquiries raised from congress like how much of a part should the government own in health administration? ACA or the Affordable Care Act finally passed through congress. Barack Obama endorsed the ACA in March 2010. As aforesaid the immediate goal of this act is to make health care accessible to more people, to make healthcare cheaper and to extend the Medicaid program. To put the ACA to work, the federal government formulated the healthcare marketplace which is a service to lots of Americans to shop for appropriate and inexpensive health protection. ACA also created certain government standards for minimum services that must be covered by private policies and stop private protection from denying patients with pre-existing conditions. In 2014 an individual decree was created which requires to pay a fine for not buying a protection plan. Through these stipulations, the Affordable Care Act managed to achieve several Obama goals. By 2016, 20 million previously uninsured Americans had health coverage. Despite that accomplishment, some were there who criticized the Obamacare individual decree. However countless Americans believe that Obamacare as one of the favorable pieces of legislation in their history.

Privileges of Obamacare

We assume that you have obtained private health protection already. Maybe you have it at your work, your parents Obamacare means you get a host of novel privileges and protections. For example, insurance organizations are now required to cover women’s wellness visits, mammograms, birth control for women, and immunization for kids all without charging a penny more. That means no extra co-pays or fees. Young adults can now stay on their parent’s plans until they turn 26. Insurance corporations can’t limit the amount of care they’ll cover over your lifetime. Also if your protection company spends more than 20% of your premium dollars on overhead stuff, they have to send you a refund for the discrepancy. And it is illegal to charge you higher premiums or refuse protection because you get sick or have been in the past and charging women higher than men for the exact same privileges is also illegal. No more deciphering page after page of jargon paperwork from your insurance organization to determine what they will or would not cover. Instead, you will get a short plain-language summary of your benefits and protection.

Bottom Line

There are certain countries which offer free health supervision system to their citizens, also there are a majority of countries where healthcare is pretty expensive. The situation in the United States of America was also the same. Before Obama became the president there were millions of people who are not in a good financial position to bear the cost of the medical health supervision policy. Such is why Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act is important. Stay with us for more info on well-being supervision and insurances.
