Racism in The United States of America

As racism goes on around the U.S.A, Americans don’t even notice it even more because we are used to it being in the news. We need to look back and think what we can do to stop it. Racism is discriminating against a certain race or belief. Many times we have turned and blamed someone else because of their race or beliefs. These actions can cause conflicts or arguments between citizens and can lead to violence. I believe this has a strong relationship with our topic, Social Injustices because racism is unfair and should not be tolerated. Some recent events that have happened is a Muslim walked into a Starbucks and was afraid to order because of his religion and because Donald Trump wants no Muslims in our country, so he wants them tracked down. This shows that even our President has blamed Muslims for hurting the U.S.A, but this guy was just trying to get a drink and he has to be afraid of something that he hasn’t even done.

Another one is the shootings in Charleston, South Carolina. The prisons in America have risen by 1000% and have mostly been blamed on African Americans and Latinos. This action was the deadliest hate crime against African Americans since 1955. This shows again that when there is a crime, we mostly want to blame it on someone’s race or believe. So before we judge someone, look closer for more details instead of doing what you instincts believe, because their is always more behind something then you really think. I know how when your in history thinking about how if you went back in time to stop the Nazis, but what we need to think about is how can we stop Racism today. Americans need to look around more and believe everyone is equal not because you learned it, but because you actually believe it. As we have gone through the years of being a U.S. citizen, we haven’t fulfilled Martin Luther King’s dream of judging a person by its characteristics instead of hisher race or religion. Racism still challenges our nation that we value everyone even if they have a different race or religion. As more incidents happen, it shows the hatred that we Americans have against each other and how since Martin Luther King’s time period, we still believe that their are better races than the other.

This shows how little America has grown over the years since 1963 about racism and shows that our hope that our nation will value everyone is a real challenge. I think that these two articles relate to social injustices because racism is very unfair to the people who didn’t deserve it and to people who wouldn’t harm the U.S.A. I feel that if I was blamed for something, but it was just a person of my race that did it, things could escalate very fast. I think that sometimes it is not our fault that sometimes we assume, but we first need to know all the facts. So as long as racism keeps going on through the U.S.A, we are going to have more and more problems with keeping this nation equal, and people seeing themselves as equal.
