After reading the passage “Half of Teens Think They’re Addicted to Their Smartphones”, I don’t think I am addicted to my phone. It was said in the story that about 50% of teenagers believe that they are addicted to they’re phone. I believe there is nothing wrong with always having a phone on a person and to use the phone on a lot of occasions. But on the other hand, if one is using the phone instead of going to a party one has been invited to. This person might have a slight problem.
According to the passage, 80% of teens check their phones every hour. I do not see anything wrong with this. Why is it bad to check a phone if I got any text messages or phone calls? Why can’t a person respond to it because that would make me addicted? That’s not called being addicted to a phone. That’s called being active towards friends, family, or whoever is texting.
There is a point to where a person is checking their phone too much. But, not only teens are effected by their phones but so are adults. “…48% of parents feel they need to immediately respond to text and social network messages.” Again, I believe there is nothing wrong with a person checking for if they just got a message on their phones. The only reason this would be a bad thing is if the parent happens to be at an important place like their job, school, church, etc. The same goes for teenagers too. Unless one is in a place where a person can check their phone, then they can text all they want.
