Review of The "Water is Life" Project

The “Water is Life” project was based on using water as a source to provide peace and improve education in three schools located at Kintele district, 35 kilometers away from Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo. Growing up, I experienced the issue regarding the lack of water at my school. Therefore, I knew that building a water fountain could increase both class attendance and performance, as well as reducing the risk of students getting sick due to hygiene related diseases. Project Fundraising I left the United States on June 9th and landed in Brazzaville on June 11th. I landed in Brazzaville on Monday at 2A. M. My first meeting with C. A. D. A organization and the directors of those three schools occurred at 11 AM on the same day.

The next day, we started raising money for the project, which was a success. We also knew that we needed more help, so we asked certain teachers if they could volunteer to raise money for the water project, which resulted in 37 teachers that helped us raise money for the water project. We ended up raising $2. 625 after a week of promoting the project in Kintele and Brazzaville. We knew that raising money for the water project was essential. When we had our first meeting, we realized that our budget was not enough to complete the whole project, because the pipes that we were supposed to use were more expensive than we thought. At this point, we knew that we had to work hard on raising money in order to improve our budget. We completed our fundraising with the help of the C. A. D. A the organization and the teachers. Project summaryI was born in Brazzaville and I grew up at Kintele district, where I got my primary and high school education. Growing up in Kintele district, all of the public schools never had water.

The lack of water had been a normalized situation because there is absolutely nobody that ever made a complaint or talked about it. As I was studying at the Kintele district, I never finished my school hours. Most of the time, my friend Jacob and I had to because we were thirsty and we had nothing to drink at school. I did not realize the importance of having a water fountain at school until I lost my friend Jacob. There were moments at school where students will have some symptoms of diseases. One of the most frequent diseases was diarrhea, which a lot of students lost their life to, including my best friend Jacob.
