The Breakfast Club »(English The Breakfast Club, also known as the” Weekend Club “) is an American teenage comedy drama [1] [2] in 1985 by director and script writer John Hughes. The second part of the trilogy, consisting of films:”Sixteen candles”«Club” Breakfast “»”Ferris Bueller takes a day off”.

This is the second picture of John Hughes as a director, recognized by most critics as his best work [5]. With a modest budget of 1 million dollars, the picture collected about 51 million dollars, bringing fame to the director and performers.

The picture tells about several hours of life of five schoolchildren. In order to punish everyone for their misconduct, they are forced to spend a day off at school. Being in different social school groups, in normal circumstances they do not communicate. After a day of disputes and revelations, teenagers come together.

Criticism met the picture ambiguously, however, after many years of stagnation, the film, which became a new word in the genre of youth cinema, as well as the mature handwriting of the beginning director: the ability to work with young actors and accurate montage. Negative feedback was given to the ending and the negative attitude towards parents who became antiheroes is not justified by the plot. The actor’s play, in particular the works of Judd Nelson and Elli Shidi, also did not find any understanding in criticism.

“Club Breakfast” was an event that acquired a cult status among teenagers, giving rise to numerous imitations. The picture in many ways determined the development of the genre of English-language youth cinema for decades. Thanks to the success of the picture, the performers entered the team of leading young American actors, called “Brat Pack” [en]. Popularity also acquired the main musical theme, “Do not You (Forget About Me)” [en] in the performance of the group Simple Minds, written specifically for the film.

The film begins on March 24, 1984 at 7:00, in the school of the fictional town of Shermer. The main characters – Ellison Reynolds, Andrew Clark, John Bender, Brian Johnson and Claire Standish – high school students, are punished by the school administration and therefore spend Saturday in the school library. Five of them, guilty high school students. The provinces were accumulated, accumulated and, finally, the patience of the school principal was overflowed, and all five were summoned for a written task on a day off for exactly eight hours and 54 minutes. By 7: 06 the children are brought by cars to their parents. From the first frame it is clear who is from which family and what their relationship is. On foot came only one young man, John Bender. Fans of Futurama can rejoice if they assume that Robot Bender received this name in honor of the hero of the movie “Club Breakfast” – YES!

They should, under the supervision of Assistant Director Richard Vernon, write an essay of 1000 words on the topic “how do you think who you are”. After Vernon goes to his office, Bender begins to ridicule Brian and Andrew and sexually harass Claire. Then he insults the returning Vernon and receives seven more school visits on weekends. Andrew calls on John to stop harassment of Claire, and they find out the relationship in elevated tones. John continues to behave defiantly, spoils library property and argues with other schoolchildren.

It’s lunch time. Vernon does not let the guys into the dining room, and they dine right in the library, by what they brought from home. Gradually, from mutual attacks and picks, they pass to normal communication. First, Bender admits that he is a victim of domestic violence. Violating the rules, the boys leave the reading room and go to the locker Bender, where he hid a portion of marijuana. The guys manage to hide this misdemeanor, Vernon only catches Bender’s attention. In their conversation, the reason for Bender’s punishment is found out – he, for fun, switched on the fire alarm. Vernon puts the guy in the closet under the lock. When they are left alone, the assistant director threatens the student with physical violence, so that it will be useless to complain, since no one will ever believe a hooligan. The rest of the guys go back unnoticed. Soon Bender runs through the ventilation from the storage room and joins the others.

Having smoked marijuana, the guys gradually open up to each other. It turns out that Allison is a deceiver with a lack of attention, she did not commit any misconduct. She got to school on Saturday just because she is not like everyone else. Andrew hates his father – it was his father who led him to cavils and demands to become a famous athlete to the point that he began to mock the classmate. Claire was caught for skipping lessons. Excellent Brian was so upset because of the evaluation of F on labor [~ 1] that he was going to settle scores with life – in his locker found a flare gun. Brian and Claire are embarrassed by her virginity. The guys are arguing about how to return to their usual life on Monday and will not be able to admit to the school, who are their new friends. Claire offers Allison to part with her baggy clothes and make her makeup. Andrew, surprised by the transformation of the girl, invites her to meet. Claire walks into the closet, where Bender returned and kisses him. After that, she gives John her earring. The day ends. The boys leave the school and diverge. The words of the essay, which Brian wrote for all, begins and ends the picture.

children who previously did not practically know and were not interested in each other, since they originated from completely different social strata, after 8 hours of detachment they welded together into a powerful association – Club Breakfast, where there is room for both love and friendship. These eight hours have become for children a kind of visit to a psychoanalyst whose shock therapy is the main method of treatment. After such a reception, the brains rise into place, it is clear where to go and why, and even the fear of life as it has not happened. That’s the kind of therapy the children have arranged for each other. Their reflections about themselves, their stories about their parents – the most heartfelt in this film. You will not see something blatant and disgusting (as, for example, in our series about the school). Everything is decent enough and predictable. Nevertheless, to monitor the development of relations is curious until the last minute – very very interesting guys came together.

In this film can be well trace a group coheviness. It can be confirmed by the main factor as the incomplete satisfaction with life and the state of things. Everyone wants something to change and such a desire unite them.

I want to finish with the words of David Bowie, who are taken as an epigraph to the film “And these children, whom you spit while they are trying to change their world – they do not hear your advice. They know where they are going. ” Well, if you know …
