An international group has declared pandas are no longer an endangered species. However, they are now considered to be vulnerable rather than endangered. This was made possible through several years of conservation. China, is not too concerned with these issues, even though the panda has much symbolism to this country. These animals can reverse back to the endangered list if proper actions do not continue.
Pandas face several problems, that make it difficult to keep the species preserved. Amongst these issues are poaching. This is the number one reasons these animals became placed on this list. Poaching is the killing of animals for their furs. These furs can be sold for large amounts of money. Another problem these animals face is finding mating partners. Since the numbers of these animals were low. Although, in recent times, the populations have increased. In the year 2004, there were approximately 1,596, and in the year 2014 there were 1,864. This increase may seem minimal, however, nonetheless, the population is expanding at a somewhat high rate.
The reason China was not too concerned with this occurrence, relies on the fact that the pandas environments are being depleted. China knows this will lead to many deaths due to not have the environment needed for lifestyle. We all must work towards saving these animals, because with extinction comes along many other environmental and habitat changes. Some of which we are unaware of until it’s too late.
