The difference between desktop and laptopIt is known to all, technology is of high development. No matter desktop or laptop has occupied their own situation in the share of market. But there are still many distinctions between them. We will talk about it in the next paragraph. At first, we should know what “computer” is. Computer is composed of “Memory” “central processing unit” “communication devices” “Input devices “(like keyboard, mouse) and” Output devices”. But there are not many differences among them except CPU and GPU (graphic cards). Despite laptop has the same configures as desktop, but it not means laptop could get the same gains as desktop.

Especially about CPU. Why say that? First as we all know desktop processor, this kind of CPU is developed for desktop, but almost laptop start adopting this kind of CPU more and more (“refined by supplier). The result is that laptop performed not as well as desktop because of its weak radiator. Nowadays the great mass of supplier uses this refined CPU on laptops. And we all know CPU is a small unit. To integrated CPU and many small components in a laptop, that may use technology. That also needs customer’s money. So, I don’t suggest to buy a laptop except special needs. Laptop is of low cost performance. This is one of my reasons why I don’t choose to buy a laptop. The secondary part of a computer is its graphic card. Graphic cards play a important role in a computer, we are in demand of playing games, listening music, enjoying movie and so on. All these demands need a graphic card. And all graphic cards have their own good and bad points. How about desktop? Desktop has a computer case. That is enough to accommodate a graphic card. So, customers don’t need to worried about heat radiation. How about laptop? The situation goes reverse. As a laptop, it doesn’t’ has enough space to accommodate so much heat sink. In the other hand, in some situations, graphic card is familiar to CPU, because almost prototypes of graphic cards are developed for desktop, not for laptop. Compared with desktop, if customers want to gain the same from a laptop, they must pay more, actually laptop could just caught up desktop. There are many similar products in the market. Like “dell G7” and dell “Achievement 5000”, compared with G7, Achievement 5000 is cheaper, their performance is similar in fact, these two computers are typical examples in today’s market, in another hand, G7 is priced high, the configure of Achievement 5000 is familiar to G7. So, I suggest to buy Achievement 5000. “For certain classes of population-based Monte Carlo algorithms they offer massively parallel simulation, with the added advantage over conventional distributed multicore processors that they are cheap, easily accessible, easy to maintain, easy to code, dedicated local devices with low power consumption.

There are some innovations on earth like “surface”, it is a connection between laptop and desktop, but it doesn’t perform well and its price is so high. So, as a customer, I think desktop is a better choice. To connect function and convenience is difficult. At last, I must say if customers are worried about the weight of computer, that’s not essential to think this problem over. Compared with desktop, anyone want to gain the same equal experience from a laptop, they must give up portability.

In summary, I suggest purchasing a desktop to a large extent. But I think desktop and laptop will be merged one day. “As our technological powers grow, the portability and flexibility of our computer hardware grows, too. ”
