It was a cold, rainy day, when me and my family left our apartment to the airport. I can remember that I was so happy to see Bangkok for the first time. At that night, there was a heavy rain and it caused a huge traffic in highway; I had anxiety to get to the airport late or miss the flight. Finally, we arrived in Tehran’s International Airport about 9 P. M at their busiest hour. Fortunately, we were on time but we had a lot of luggage, so we had to wrap and combine them to avoid of paying over limit luggage fine. After wrapping them, we went to Bangkok gates to get flight cards and checking our passports. We got to the plane at 10:30 exactly thirteen minutes before gate closing. Eventually, I was relieved that I am finally going to Thailand.
After about 8 hours flight, we arrived to the Bangkok next day morning. The Bangkok’s airport (Suvarnabhumi Airport) was one of the biggest airports I have ever seen. I was amazed how big and beautiful it is and the interior designs were remarkable. I can remember we stand on escalator for 10 minutes to reach the immigration gates to get stamp on our visa. When we left the airport the first thing that attracted my attention was the humid weather. Although Bangkok is 2 hours away from sea, but I could feel the smell of the sea. Since we had a lot of luggage, we took two cab to the hotel. My dad showed the hotel’s name and address to my taxi driver and told him to come after us and left with first cab and I left the airport with second cap.
The first interesting thing that I apprehended about Thailand was the caps color. In addition to use old-style yellow color for taxis, they also use funky colors like pink, blue, orange and even red which gives a cool view to the city. While I was enjoying of Bangkok city, I sense that the cab driver is confused and looking around. I thought maybe he is looking for shortcut to avoid traffic but suddenly he stopped in gas station and left the car and started talk to another taxi driver. I did not understand what they are talking about, but I guessed he is asking for directions.
When he came back, he starts asking questions but since I did not know English, I had no idea what he is talking about. While he was talking, he repeated the word “Lost” a few times. At that point I realized we lost the other cab. That was the worst moment for me because I hadn’t had cellphone and money. Also, I could not speak English. That was the most stressful moment of my trip.
When I was thinking for myself how I must find my family, He took me to the taxi station. Fortunately, I found an Iranian cab driver in station. I explained him what happened, and he told me “Don’t worry. All taxis are equipped with wireless in Bangkok. ” After five minutes, He told me we found your family. That was the best thing I heard that instant. He told me you don’t need to pay for the cab because he made mistake and lost the address and I will take you there. When we arrived at the hotel, he left very quick before I could thank him.
Lastly, my Thailand trip was the best trip I ever had compare to my other trips. It is an impressive country and you will find beautiful beaches, seas, restaurants and shopping malls there. I stayed there for two weeks and completely forgot about the hard time I had in the beginning of my trip, but it gave me good lessons to do not get into the same situation ever again.
