The Flaws of The Fraction System in The Book Divergent

The book Divergent is manly about standing out of the system and what is considerd normal in society and what isn’t. The book takes place in a future Chicago where the society is run by fraction system. The story starts with the main character Beatrice as a queit girl but then she develops throghout the book having to make big decisions, going out of her comfort zone and standing up for herself and others. After the main character Beatrice goes to the big test and finds out she is divergent wich means she belongs to more then one faction she desides to leave her family and join the Dountless faction which are the courage. This desision shows a lot about her character. She had the courage to leave her family and suprise every one for what she wanted to do.

When you chooce a fraction you stay with your faction for the rest of your life. There are five factions, Dauntless, Amity, Candor, Erudite and Abnegation. The fractions have different roles to play in society, such as Abnegation, a selfless faction running the goverment becouse the selflessness of them allows thair to be no corruption. The idea of this kind of a fraction system seems good, each fraction would have their own behavior and part to play in society but it would never work in the real world.

Firstly there are divided communities in reality where people belong to a certain class that they were born in to. For example in India the idiea of creating a society where everybody are equal to prevent war is not far a way from the early ideas of communism. Time has shown us that this communities with communism and class system most often end up in corruption, rebellion and a large gap between the poor and rich.

Secondly it would not work to have system like in the novel because in modren society people have to have the right to be who they want without having to leave their family and friends forever. In the same way people are very different and when you are sixteen years old you are not ready to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life, it is similar if you had to decide one job that you are going to work for the rest of your life when you are sixteen.

People would want to change fractions and that would be illegal so that would lead to a big problem. Like what would happen to a guy from the Abligation faction if he suddenly started to be selfish because people change.

Another reason the fraction system would not work is that the fractions would eventually begin distrusting each other and feel as they had no power or the other faction had to much power wich leads to faction attacking another fraction.

Finally there is just no way that a society that is as divided as in the book could survive in the realty because of how connected everybody are today through social media and the internet.

In conclusion, although a fraction system seems flawless and uncorrect, the different ideas of each fraction would in turn lead to an argument, wich leads to much bigger issues. The best way to avoid such a conflict is to not have a fraction system to begin with.
