Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born on the 26th of August 1910. During her childhood, she was determined towards the work performed by the missionaries. Not only that but the skills she learnt from an early age such as feeding the homeless and donating to the less-fortunate were highly influenced to where she was heading in life. Agnes dedicated her life to helping people in need and therefore joined the Sisters of Loreto soon changing her name to Mother Teresa. Performing myriads of superb deeds, particularly establishing ‘The Missionaries of Charity’ she received many awards along the way including the Nobel Peace Prize and later passed away on the 5th of September 1997.

There are a plethora of ways on how Mother Teresa’s actions deeply impacted us. Her voluntary actions of feeding, aiding and just interacting with the homeless can be seen as influential. Through her actions, it persuades us to have a sincere and sympathetic heart towards the less fortunate. It inspires us to also volunteer at homeless shelters and support people who suffer. Additionally, her devotion towards the poor and sick has inspired many around the world. From a young age, she constantly supported the unfortunate meaning majority of her wealth was contributed towards the charity and the community. Mother Teresa’s determination made her establish “The missionaries of Charity’ to do all she could do to feed and aid the homeless, orphans and other people who were suffering from issues. We can see her admiration for miserable people as a guide to doing as much as we can do to support those in need. Whilst caring for many sufferers, Mother Teresa occasionally preached to the suffering people. She shared stories and quotes from the bible. This made many people aware of evangelizing as well as inspiring people to worship God.

Prior to Jesus’s departure, he has left us with many teachings. Some of his teachings were reinforced and obeyed by Mother Teresa. Jesus lived majority of his life by serving others. For instance, he showed the disciples an act of service by washing their feet. Similarly, Mother Teresa has shown a substantial amount of service as she lived a life of serving, feeding and cleaning others. Furthermore, Jesus stated in Mark 12: 31 to ‘love your neighbour as yourself.’ Likewise, Mother Teresa sincerely loved everyone and truly believed everyone deserved to be loved no matter the circumstance. Which is why she persistently performed an act of service. On top of that, Mother Teresa also emphasized the message of forgiveness. In Matthew 18:21-22 Peter asked “Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times?”, and Jesus said “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.” Mother Teresa also expressed how much forgiveness is crucial by releasing a quote saying “If you really want to love, we must learn how to forgive.” During her life, she really manifested on how she emulated in the footsteps of Jesus’s teachings.

Mother Teresa lived well beyond accordingly to the Gospel Values. Jesus inspired the disciples with a lesson of service during Holy Thursday by washing their feet. Comparably, she had shown a remarkable amount of service towards others. No matter the situation she was always there to give moral support and served people in desperate need. Not only that but she also had a genuine love for everyone portraying qualities such as kindness, patience, empathy, concern and more. Her actions remind us of how Jesus demonstrated his love for us by dying on the cross for our eternal life. These are just some of the Gospel values she lived by during her journeys.
