Introduction

For the past decades, changes occur. Now and then people acquire different styles, norms, status, and even gender does. According to the bible, we have only two genders and that is female and male. God makes only two identities for us, but in this generation, the LGBTQ community exists. We can’t say that we don’t want them to exist, but it’s a prophecy written in the bible. LGBTQ is an acronym stands for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, and queer or questioning. In our generation, many people release their thoughts and express their feelings as a lesbian, gay, bi, or even they want to change their gender in a way of how can people accept and understand who they truly are. They change their identity because they feel like they are living inside the wrong body. It is not their fault why they became like that, but in the eyes of God, it is not applicable and acceptable. As years past by, this community is still continuously growing. While their communities are still growing, discrimination against them occurs. Inequality, bullying, sexual abuse, and cybercrime also exist. Maybe we can’t accept them because of their appearance, how they dress, how they act, and even how they treat us, but it is not the reason to discriminate and bully them.

LGBT acceptance in society

We have to accept them because they are also human just like us, they feel whatever we feel. Nowadays, transgender is one of the most controversial and most talk in all social media because of the incident happened in public comfort room for female. They are now experiencing discrimination, ruining their rights and reputation, showing them inequality, and lastly bullying which resulted in suicidal because of people’s wrong judgments.

As days past by, news reports caught the citizen’s and politician’s attention. A transgender named Gretchen Diez confronted by the janitress in Quezon City public comfort room only for females. She arrested by the police and turned over her at the police station with a case against Cyber Crime Law. Gretchen explained everything that she didn’t do anything, she only wants to use that comfort room for a minute. She released by the police. After that incident, Gretchen files a complaint against the janitress who discriminates her as a transgender. She pursues the case to prove that equality and justice will prevail. She will fight not only for herself but also for all his kind and to the entire person who, experience inequality in this country.

Different reactions occur from our society, politicians; and even President Duterte caught his attention about this news that happened in the public comfort room. He expressed his strong support for Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression or SOGIE BILL. Media on side of the bill is hiding under the Anti-Discrimination Act. He is also in favor of equal rights of LGBTQ. Some of the fellow-citizens agree to what President Duterte’s proposal and opinion. On the other side, some senators and citizens didn’t agree with the said opinion. Senator Bato Dela Rosa and Senate President Tito Sotto are not in favor of what the president talks about. What if perverts change their identity and enter the female restroom to do bad things to those girls inside the cubicle. Restrooms are biology-based. Lesbians cannot stand in male-only urinals. If he or she is bi, lesbian, or gays then they may go to their appropriate urinals area. If he or he is a trans then maybe we can build another comfort room for them, because there is a chance that straight females may feel uncomfortable, and also for males inside that cubicle. It’s a good idea if we build other restrooms for them, not only for their safety but also for their privacy. They would no longer feel unsafe, uncomfortable, and different. Also, pastors are not in favor of the President’s opinion, because they prefer to what the bible said. Yes, maybe they have also rights but it’s not acceptable in God’s sight. If the Anti-Discrimination Act for LGBTQ will surely be promoted, this will make it legal to teach LGBTQ in our schools and make it punishable by law to quote bible verses against Homosexuality in public and more. As a student, I am in favor of equal rights; it is also a great idea to have other restrooms for them. I salute the president who gives his strong support for that bill which leads the LGBTQ to promote the anti-discrimination and equality in our society.

Transwomen can be equally treated by giving them respect and not discriminating them, especially in public places. We should bear in mind that the entire thing has the right to live according to their way and kind of life that they’ve become. All of us should broaden our mind and think the same privileges just like the transwoman. Our country should provide comfortable rooms not only for the female, male and disabled person but also to those who have mentioned in these writings. Instead of bullying and discriminating them, give them respect, if ever they are misunderstood just approach them in a good manner or talk them in private not humiliate in front of other people. Some of us didn’t understand the way they act in public. Some of them easily approach but some are not. But all in all, they are one of us, the same form and kind. To those who are transgender or transwoman, give also respect to the public comfort rooms.

Conclusion

As I have said earlier equality and respect should be learned and instill to each of us. We should also approach the utilities in a good way possible that are in charge of the staid place. Keep in mind that our action is the result of a misunderstanding. Be careful of everything that we do and act, humility and compassion are the keys to everyone’s good relationship. We have to know everyone’s rights so that quarrels and discrimination will be avoided. In our state now a day, we must be observant not only to ourselves but also to the people around us. We have to listen to everyone’s opinion and respect accordingly. No one is perfect, let us consider their way of life even if it is not acceptable according to our kind of perspectives and philosophy. We are not born perfect, instead, we are born to live and do whatever kind of life we want it to be, to enjoy, explore, and be an inspiration to others and most of all is the kind of person that no one can imagine. Every gender must learn to appreciate one another even in every different situation, keep calm and patient. Act according to your will, but think first before you speak. Transgender should give respect and let them live and enjoy life. Do not avoid them and dictate them what to do and how to act, instead understand them and wear their shoes to experience what they feel when they are in the situation that they don’t want to experience. Many don’t understand their way of life.
