In the modern era, business skills play a crucial role in achieving organisational goals and individual success (Gallagher 2013). These skills can be classified into two categories, hard and soft. Hard skills are the technical procedures and easily measured. On the other hand, soft skills are intangible and difficult to measure (Hendarman and Cantner 2018). Due to globalization, business is profitable only when employees have good communication skills and work as a team in the organisation, so students should learn these skills before entering the workplace (Levasseur and Robert 2013). The essay will justify the significance of teamwork and communication skills which are required for successful business and the ways by which universities can teach these skills to their students. Communication skills play a crucial role in creating mutual understanding between employer and employees and help in building a long-term relationship with customers (Tailor and R. K. 2014). Communication skill are necessary for business because it is the ability to convey feeling, ideas, and information to others.

For instance, if the instructions and guidelines given by employer about the work is unclear, then it will create confusion and misunderstanding in the organisation (Wallis and T. J. 2003). This can only be tackled by the employer by having good communication skills. Communication skills help businesses to identify the customer’s needs. Fulfilling the customer needs to the highest level makes the customers satisfied, it creates loyalty and trust of their clients (Melewar and others 2017). Good communication skill drives organisational goal to an effective and efficient level. University can organise various events and activities for undergraduate such as cultural groups which assist undergraduate students in gaining knowledge and skills in cross-cultural interaction.

Students can develop the quality of cultural competence while studying at university. For example, students working with people from diverse cultures experience a variety of ways to solve the problem, learn to communicate in different languages and many ways to apply to the discussion. Cultural groups can be formed in the sports group, so students can develop the common interest in doing particular assignments. Students gain knowledge about different cultures like their language, lifestyles,and common interests. This help student to overcome various challenges like different accents, grammar, and development of quality of listening and accepting others views. This help students to create a strong bond with other peers.

Teamwork motivates unity in the organisation and offers a variety of creative ideas which reduces chances of error in the business. In the modernized world, it is challenging for a person to achieve organisational goal individually, it requires more employees who initiate in teamwork to make the business successful. The employees working in the group have more innovative ideas and practical solutions to their problems than someone working alone. Working within a team allows workloads to be shared equally between members and distributed according to each member abilities and strengths. For example, one employee may be the creative and constructive thinker, but find it difficult to apply it, and another employee may be magnificent in relating creative views in business (TEAM stated as Together Everyone Achieves More). Teamwork helps the individual employee to understand the organisation objective and give their best to achieve it. Practical methods commonly used by the university to teach teamwork through group assignments and oral presentations. In group assignments, all students work as a team.

In group assignments students achieve more, such as they learn how to convince individual ideas, perform complex tasks, deeper and wider knowledge and the good listening skills. These experiences assist students to work in the actual workplace. For example, if students are not good in studies or in facing any problem in specific topics, then others will encourage him and compensate for the weaknesses. It creates the accuracy in work and reduces the chances of error. The whole group is working to achieve the single objective. Students gain the experience of how to solve the conflicts and understand each other thinking. The Oral presentation is one of the most appropriate ways to teach the skill of teamwork to undergraduates’ student. Due to oral presentation students learn many qualities like teamwork, gain confidence, educate listeners about your views and ideas.
