Introduction

Introduction: Some might think professionalism as dressing smartly at work and performing good in job, whereas some think being professional is having degree form good institutions. For me professionalism encircle all these explanations, but it covers much more. Professionalism can be discerned out better after defining the profession.

Background: Behrend et. al. (2006) supply an explanation for occupation as a chosen, paid, occupations that requires an extended education and formal qualification. Thus, professionals are an individual who are expected to exhibit performance and skillful behaviors in accordance with their profession. Then, professionalism is the mechanism of behaving in a manner that is predicted by way of potential of the occupation.

Discussion

Thesis statement: I believe nursing is one of the disciplines that needs the experts to act in a way that shows the dignity of the immense discipline. People who exhibit professionalism at any stage have higher rate of success and commitment in their career. According to Giard et. al, (2005) ‘professional nursing exercise is a commitment to compassion, caring and sturdy moral value, normal improvement of self and others accountability and duty for insightful practice, demonstrating a spirit of collaboration and flexibility’.

There are many important characteristics such as trustworthiness, specialized knowledge, accountability etc. that make an individual or nurse as professional. In this section, I am writing down three major traits of professional nurse that I think.

Topic sentence: Team work is the one of the main important components of professionalism in nursing. Evidence & citing: Nursing is mostly collaboration that concentrate on accomplishing secure outcomes for medical attendants and patients. Commentary: Dysfunctional team that lacks cohesion and inhibit work performance reduce productivity, enlarge conflicts, limit job satisfaction and make contribution to exaggerated workers turnover. Due to differences in team member’s training, experience and range of skills along with shortage of understanding about one’s role and duty with in teams, can limit the effectiveness of team.

I think for the betterment and cooperation of team; communication is the most. Good communication is most for the wonderful teamwork, and nurse manager need to lead by example. They prefer to promote respectful and fantastic conversation among workforce to establish strong, reliable relationship within workplace teams.

Topic sentence: Secondly, appearance and Knowledge is another integral trait that help to construct professionalism in nursing. Evidence & citing: Nurses must comprehend that their presentation tells a lot about them. No-one prefer to go to healthcare or medical center and meet a nurse that is not debut well. In my view, if the nurse has sleek and professional presentation, people will naturally feel comfort with the state of affairs they are in and admired to cooperate at some point of the caring process.

Thomas, Ehret et.al. (2010) said, 'most patients expressed that they accept as a true with a nurse to be extra capable if they have been clean and dressed properly’. Similarly, I agree with turning into a professional nurse one need to continually learn. Just due to the fact a nurse has carried out their schooling, does now not mean that the getting to know method is done. Daily new findings and technologies are developing, so continuous learning makes the nurse to update their knowledge and practices so that they can stand out in crowd and became more dedicated and professional in their field. Nurses need to be updated their knowledge and skills from different sources on well-timed manner.

Topic sentence: Self-awareness is the most vital characteristics for creating professionalism in nursing. Evidence & citing: Due to self-awareness we can consider ourselves on a chronic basis to guarantee that we are holding the standards that make us professional. As nurse go through self-evaluation, one can determine, daily basis, what they can do to enhance themselves and grow to be more professional. Commentary: In my prospective view, nurse want to ask themselves how accelerated level of professionalism could advance the workplace. As per Staples (2009), ‘there are regularly small steps that can be taken to make a massive difference, and by way of re-evaluating oneself on daily basis, a nurse can pick out what they are doing well, and the place upgrades can be made for the cause of enhancing professionalism’.

Topic sentence: As nursing student, I believe discipline is one of the most important attributes for professionalism in nursing. Evidence & citing: Timeliness is very important in this profession. A nurse needs to hold watch on treatment schedules, affected person monitoring and reporting time for duty. Commentary: If nurse sit lower back and sleeps, affected person medicinal drug schedules will no longer take place on time and this will compromise affected person care. In addition, nurses are supposed to record on duty in time to relieve the previous nurse. If they prolong in reporting to duty, they will easily reason annoyance to other staff and also cause chaos in the workplace. Thus, professionalism is wanted in the area of discipline so that time is adhered to and no longer permitting nonpublic existence to intervene with nursing exercise.

Conclusion paragraph: Overall, we can see that keeping professionalism in nursing is imperative to the profession. There are boundaries to professionalism in the nursing industry, on the other hand they can be overthrown through working together towards widely wide-spread goal. Nurses ought to preserve themselves in characteristic of belief each day, consequently, it is indispensable that human being that confide on the care of nurses are convinced that they are being cared with the aid of professionals.
