The research paper seeks to prove that upon the creation of man, God was optimistic to absolute perfection in man, but instead he was led to seek perfect righteousness in Christ. God sent his son, Jesus Christ to bring salvation to earth and change the sinful ways of the disobedient people. The paper also justifies that obedience is a condition of justification of the righteousness of human beings. The research paper seeks answers to the statement that man cannot be justified while sin remains in him. The justification of man cannot be done either upon the legal or legal principles, but only if the laws were to be revoked. Man can be forgiven of his sins only if he is bound to change his own heart as preached by Charles G. Finney in his summon.

God Did all He Could to Prevent Sin

The paper also seeks to make it clear that God has done all he could to prevent sin in the world. Charles Finney makes his speech about the need for man to change his own heart because God has possibly sacrificed all he could to pardon human beings. Nonetheless, man has instead increased the evil vices in the society, which contradicts the teachings of the gospel. In the real sense, God cannot influence man in more ways other than by the objective presentation of truth to the mind. While Mr. Finney has not stated reasons in his sermon about the need for man to change his heart and ways as to why God cannot do more to prevent the existence of sin among men, it is upon the human beings to reason out and see the many reasons which lie behind the conclusion that God has already done all that he could (Finney 26).

God having created man to be the creature that he is, he could not have subjected him to greater degree of susceptibility of the impression from the truth that man is now part of. God did not devise external considerations that could affect man as well since man was already given the responsibility of managing things using the mind. God cannot move man by other means except by the truth of the heart. Mr. Finney does not concentrate on giving reasons as to why the truth of the heart is significant in the salvation of man, but even with all the bold assumptions, it is still not clear how man can change his own heart to follow the perfection that God commands. Thos who listen to the sermon in the internet, therefore, admit that the assumption by Finney that God has done all he could might be right since it is not possible for man to be moved by the truth (Kilde 26).

According to the theory of divine nature in Mr. Finney sermon, the spirit gets and keeps the attention of the mind. The spirit is good at keeping the truth in contact with the mind; hence man has slipped away several times as he tries to maintain perfection of his heart. The mind is associated with inconsistency with the doctrines on God; proving than God indeed all he could to prevent sin on earth. Since the creation of the first man, it has been proved that man is easily influenced by temptations that convince the mind and heart to turn away from the doctrines of God (Finney 1).

The Case of Adam

Referring to Adam, notes that he was perfectly holy upon his creation but his preference to God was not very strong. Adam’s preference to God was changed by Satan who appeared to him in the form of a serpent. Satan led Adam to a temptation of a very peculiar character that was addressed to the constitutional appetites of both body and soul. Adam was driven by the force to increase his appetite for food in the body and for the knowledge in the mind. The appetite that he was tempted to satisfy was constitutional and was not sinful. However, their unlawful indulgence was sin ("Charles G Finney - Sinners Bound To Change Their Own Hearts").

The temptation that Adam went through is an example of the situation that the contemporary man goes through each and every day. Just as the temptation was addressed to Adams appetite for the satisfaction of the body and for knowledge, human beings have constantly engaged in sinful acts for purposes of satisfaction and for knowledge. Man engages in emotions for the desire to carry out sinful acts but they are not sin until he indulges in the unlawful acts.

After sin, the sermon illustrates that Adam was emotional since he realized his wrong doing to his creator. Adam had in mind that he had sinned and he had learnt the truth. God was not happy with Adam’s actions of disobedience, a similar situation on earth today as God has done all he could to prevent people from sinning.

It is notable that Mr. Finney did not rebuke his audience for the sins that were committed by Adam. He rather challenges people to do something about their own sins by changing their ways and obeying the laws of God as written in the Bible. The sermon suggests that nobody is totally deprived of changing their hearts since the only bondage that a person is under may be the voluntary bondage. Voluntary bondage comes about as a result of selfishness and love of the world; thus his suggestion for the immediate repentance and submission to God. The sermon even suggested that preachers ought to be in a situation whereby they can see the results of a change in heart before the converts leave prayer meetings ("Charles G Finney • Sinners Bound To Change Their Own Hearts").

In his sermon about the conversion of sinners, it may be advisable that he drops his theological scheme that concentrates on divine intervention for man to change his heart. The Holy Spirit, for instance, influences people occasionally and cannot be relied on for people to be converted. Even those whom God has sent the Holy Spirit end up on the wrong truck again. God even sacrificed his son to die on the cross to save people from their sins but the world has worsened with time. People are more sinful than ever before as the selfishness of individuals and nations is on the rise, leading to wars and other vices (Finney 3).

God doing all his could to prevent sin is an argument that illustrates his desire for perfection among human beings who are constantly lured into temptations. It could be true that God has been disappointed in man for a very long time as his efforts to prevent sin on earth have not bore fruits. However, God still provides protection to his creatures on earth, which is evidence enough that he is interested in perfection of the pieces of his creation (Kilde 27).
