The three movies arethrilling and entertaining to watch. They encapsulate a package that is designed with prowess and is beyond comparison and worthwhile. It is done with a lot of originality and the characters are exceptional andoutstanding in their roles. One of the outstanding subject matter of these movies is on moral decay in the society. Another prominent subject is the Christian religion that we purpose to discuss in the context of all the three movies (Beck, 2005)

On our first contrast, we look at the moral values in the three movies. The first movie is “Se7en” which is directed by David Fischer and we acknowledge thatit was his second feature in 1995. It essentially depicts a morally deprived society in which we are living in. In fact it has a striking climax like no other I have ever watched. The movieis a nasty thriller that encompasses gripping and grim effects. Again we have Mystic River as the second movie, added to the collection of these movies and it generally revolves how the past mistakes can hunt one to the present. The moral aspect in this movie has been expounded comprehensively and there is no doubt the message is loud and clear.

On the list also is the movie “as it is in heaven” distinguishes itself from other movie by having the main protagonist as the villain. Detrimental morals in this movie have been taken a notch higher to enhance the deliverance.

One thing in common in these movies is the fact that they all have matters to do with religion. Christian and Catholics effects have been employed in these great pieces of work and they all tell a story hence seen their high rating and reviews in the filming industries even as the years pass by.

In the movie se7en, the Christian religion has been explored and we can see instances the name of God and Jesus being used blasphemously. This is not peculiar especially in the world today. Consequently, obscene words and irreligious name calling have been used in not less than one instance. In fact the count of the f-word used in the se7en will go beyond seventy (Young et al. 2007)

More than in any other of the three movies is the symbolic use of the Christian figures in the Mystic River. For example, Jimmy has a big tattoo on his back of a cross towering from his shoulder down to the middle of his back. The viewer may take to see Jimmy like a Christ figure. He is depicted to be carrying a cross which would be taken to symbolize the sins of theft and vengeful murder he had done. He cannot be anywhere compared to the religious Christ we know. Again a contrast comes to the fact that Jesus carried the cross so that we would be redeemed from our sins but Jimmy in this case is the contrary of that. He has committed crimes and his hands are covered by blood.

Another instance in this movie that we see the cross is in the hands of the molesters who had abducted Dave. One of the pedophile had a ring that had the cross on it. Such scenes are depicted in the movie and they are symbolic to stand for aspects with Christian and it all depend with what the viewer understands of it. People are involved in crimes less concerned with the religion. The movie unfolds the wicked society that we are living in.

Jimmy is a presentation of the many evil people who are not ashamed to do their wicked deeds yet they know of the existence of their religion. A good example is an Argentinian case where a lady pleaded for mercy under the retention by some corrupts police. He says that she is a Christian and what she gets back is a question of why she is telling them so from one of the corps. The corp goes to claim that they are Christian too has the guts to claim that he is a Catholic and she makes the blind folded woman feel the cross that he was wearing (Redmond,2004)

Unlike in the above two movies, the movie “as it is in heaven”, has essentially been based on a religious community. After the death of the group’s religious leader, David takes over the throne from the man who had baptized him. The congregation is a blinded one. They want to believe they are making the right decisions yet they are little informed on those same decisions. Christian fanatics are depicted to show how far a community could turn gullible. David claims that the world is ending after thirty days and this profoundly shocks the followers. The group could not help to notice that this same David had been as fallible as they were before the death of Edward. Edward was the man who baptized David. What shocks them to the roots is how he turns up to lead them.

Going back to the movie se7en, the serial killer portrays himself as an instrument with which God was using to punish those who the sinners in the city. When Mills says that he should not kill “innocent people”, Doe rants that there is no innocence in the society. How could the society be innocent, yet there are sex workers all over. Sex workers representing lust in the society, the obese men (gluttony in the society), the lawyers who stand for greed in the society. Sure the society is wicked but then you don’t go killing everybody and acting like the angel of death as seen in Doe.

This presumes true in the society we are living in. people seem to be ignorant of the sins and this is depicted in Mill who even think that Doe is insane. He is in utter shock to believe or understand that such evils committed by Doe could be existing in the society (Engel,2007)

Mills represents a society that feels and imagines that some sins are extra ordinary or even supernatural and not normal. A society that feels that those evil are demonic or mad and that they are not the common men and women. What we come to understand is that such a perspective and angle of viewing things may not be able to handle such scenarios yet they are happening around us every day. This would only mean that if we have such serial killers with an added intelligence in their execution then the society is deemed to suffer and this should definitely not be the case.

On another dimension, women roles in the Christian teachings has been exemplified in these movies. Take the movie Mystic River, the teachings are undermining the women in that they are portrayed like dependent human beings who should be submissive to their men. There are few strong women in these movies.

The submission aspect can be seen in the family setting between Jimmy and his wife and though she knows that Jimmy is a murderer she doesn’t turn away from him. In fact she is quick to compliment him to be a good father and she even offers her body as a form of solace (Young et al. 2007)

Christianity is yet to materialize the full dignity of a woman. Take the example of Sean wife in Mystic River. She left when she was pregnant and she have been waiting for the husband to humble himself and acknowledge that he is wrong. Her invincibility can be taken to mean that the Christian teachings are yet to incorporate that aspect of dignity of women. Mills wife, Paltrow is submissive to her husband too. This also proves the beforehand issue of Christianity teachings. Unlike these movies,“as it is in heaven” is not detailed on this subject.

In conclusion, the aforementioned movie has pin pointed out the strengths and weaknesses that the Christianity religion is facing. Some are challenges that we should endeavor to rectify on and others are the good teachings that comes with the religion. The society is built on a moral fabric that is stitched together using good values and ideal religious teachings of either Christianity or other religions. We should take heed to the good teachings (Beck, 2007)
