The issue of immigration and refugees is one of great debate, each leader and country has their own perspective on the issue. This issue could be placed on the left side of the spectrum as well as the middle along with moderate positions. People on the left and middle side would agree with the idea of bringing immigrants with obvious concern and thought before just allowing immigrants into the country leaders like Justin Trudeau and Barack Obama have been open to immigration and taking in refugees from war torn countries. It’s seen as a liberal perspective because it is a human right to have somewhere safe to live and to seek refugee through government policy favoring change and being open towards it.
As for moderates, they would believe that it is equality with some inequality as well as keeping in mind national interests. Someone who falls on the right side of the spectrum like a conservative would disagree with this due to their wants of maintaining the equilibrium of the state they are in as well as keeping social order. Believing that bringing in people would cause havoc and change everything drastically. For example, Donald Trump sees immigration as something of less importance he stands to “Put America First” before any other thing. Nationalistic views like his could be seen as positive but Trump is willing to put up walls and send immigrants back home by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for something as small as running a red light. This is when it becomes a negative stance. DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is an immigration policy that allows for children who’ve moved here at a young age to be safe under labeled as dreamers. Dreamers are protected under DACA from ICE and other immigration problems. Trump had planned to end DACA in March of 2018 but it was overridden. Trump’s action if they had gone further could even be seen as reactionary, though they are not. Someone who falls under reactionary is someone who blames immigrants for every negative outcome for example water shortage would be blamed on immigrants. A reactionary would result to violence to stop immigration. A reactionary wants to go back to a time where it was just the original group of people, no diversity or difference. Theresa May said that immigration policies are “almost reminiscent of Nazi Germany”.
Hitler’s actions could be considered radical, I say this because Hitler wanted to get rid of a group of people by the most terrible means. He wanted change he wanted it to be the Nazi’s and went to extremes to make sure of that. A radical perspective on immigration would be someone similar to Hitler but Hitler’s issues were not based on immigration. Both reactionary and radical perspectives could lead to assimilation of an entire group of people or multiple for that matter.
