Transformation is when you change or adjust something. This involves also making things appear or disappear.
What are the sub-branches of Transformation? Explain each one and provide examples.
Switching: Switching is when you swap two stimuli, for example a cat into a cup and a cup into a cat.
Trans-Species transformations: when you change something into an animal or creature. An example is ducklifors when you turn the target into a duck.
Human transformations: when you transform a human into something else. An example is turning a human into a pig.
Which type of transformations are we going to explore this year?
We will begin this year with general transformations. General is classed as a fourth sub-branch and some spells will overlap and go into more than one sub-branch. These general transformations include needle to matchstick and beetle to button.
What are willpower and concentration? Define each in terms of Transfiguration.
Willpower is a very important component of transfiguration. Willpower is all about wand power and how determined you are to change your variable. If you have enough willpower, this can, if an animate object, overtake consciousness and thus lead to a more successful transformation. If not, the spell can backfire due to the creature etc. still having their consciousness. This is very important because if done wrong, and the object still has some consciousness, some transformations can be considered to be ethically wrong. Also if the incantation and wand movement is done properly, and used by the true owner, the transformation can be more successful. Concentration is the same for almost the same reason, without concentrating on the transformation, things can go wrong and the objects or stimuli may not be changed completely.
Fill in the gaps in the following paragraph.
Most transformative spells are often triggered by incantations either in Latin or Ancient Greek; that the wand movements characteristic to Transfiguration are sharp and decisive, even though some of them might seem loopy or vague. Moving forward we know that most spells are joined by a particular light that we will note each time we attempt to transform a target.
* Why can’t we just change the effects of the spell mid-casting? Explain your answer.*
Because during the spell-casting you can’t change all the components. You’re not concentrating on one thing if you’re changing it and the incantation and wand movement would change but halfway through you’d be doing the completely wrong movement or incantation.
