When I first joined DA, I was a little confused on how to make a blog that looked nice. The first featured blog I ever made, which is now deleted, was a mess and had random images I found on Google.

With experimenting and learning how to use new tools, my blogs have improved immensely.

In this post, I would like to share some tips and advice on how I make my blogs.

Writing the blog

  1. Inspiration
  2. I know this is pretty obvious, but it’s still important to keep in mind and noted.

I see so many members who do not take their time when it comes to writing blogs. They’re in a hurry to make a post and do not consider what would be a good topic to write about. This usually results in a messy, half assed post that they are unhappy with.

Don’t be in such a rush. Think about what you want to write, whether it be a poem or an advice blog, and get inspiration. You can do this from something you are experiencing in real life, or questions other members have asked you. You could even look at other members posts and see how they write theirs.

  3. Rough draft
  4. You don’t need to write the whole blog out at once.

What I usually like to do is create a rough draft. Basically writing everything I want to get down first, and then later going back and editing it. It’s easier if you already have all the important things written down so you can go back and focus on your wording and grammar.

  5. Punctuation
  6. When writing a blog, it’s important to use proper grammar and punctuation.

I mean, how w00d ur blog l00k if u talked lyke dis?

It just doesn’t look as nice and is harder for fellow members to read.

Do not stress out on this too much, but definitely keep it in mind.

  7. Amino tools
  8. Amino has text tools you can use.

Here is what they are and how to use them:

    • By doing [c] this will center your text
    • By doing [b] this will make your text bold
    • By doing [i] this will slant your text
    • By doing [u] this will underline your text
    • By doing [s] this will strike through your text
  9. Ending
  10. Think of how to end the blog.

You don’t just want to put down your last point and that’s the end. Find a smooth way to transition into it.

    Editing the blog

    1. Borders and drivers
    2. This is a great way to decorate your blog.

The borders help put everything into one place and make it just come together. And dividers are a great way to separate what you are talking about and moving on to the next point.

I wouldn’t consider it something to be necessary, but it definitely makes it look nicer.

You can find them online, or you can find them in our wiki catalog. This wiki is the main one I use.

    3. Fonts
    4. Using unique fonts is another great way to make everything look nicer.

It helps parts of your blog look different and can make certain points stand out. You can find special fonts on websites or can even find them in the app store. Sometimes they also come with symbols so that’s a plus.

Note: Some phones cannot recognize fonts so be aware that some members may not be able to read it.

    5. Pictures
    6. Using aesthetic photos is a great way to make your blog look nice and fill up space.

I recommend going with a theme such as a color or an item. My favorite way to find photos that go well together is Tumblr. You can look up something like “Lavender aesthetic” and find a lot of photos that are different but match your theme.

You can get a better idea of what I mean in this blog. I used a yellow aesthetic and got the photos from Tumblr.
