According to a study by Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, some individuals may develop impulse control disorders as the side-effects of certain medications they take in order to treat Parkinson’s Disease.[1] Given that our client is an elderly citizen, it might be also possible that he might have had Parkinson’s Disease in advance, and his Gambling Disorder might have been caused by his medications, when we follow the description in DSM-IV-TR, in which Gambling Disorder is classified as an impulse control disorder. Oakcrest Retirement Community is identified as a public resource for Parkinson’s Disease by Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, and offers special sessions exclusively for patients with Parkinson’s Disease on every 3rd Thursday of a month at afternoon.
