Poverty is about not consuming enough cash to meet basic requirements including food, clothing and shelter. However, poverty is further, much further than just having enough cash. “Poverty is starvation. Poverty is absence of shelter. Poverty is being sick and not being able to see a medic. Poverty is not having access to institute and not knowing how to read. Poverty is not having a job, is terror for the upcoming, living one day at a time.

Facts about poverty:

  1. 1 billion children worldwide are living in poverty. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty.
  2. 1.6billion people live without electricity.
  3. Oxfam estimates that if world take $ 60 billion annually to end extreme global poverty and that’s less than ¼ the income of the top 100 richest billionaires.

What I learned:

What I learned is that poverty is not just a material thing, it’s a feeling too. Poverty can be money, feeling and it could be in your mentality. For example, some people might be rich with a lot of money on their hands but they are not educated enough, which means that they have a mental poverty that their brain isn’t enlightened. People all over the world from different places suffer from hunger that they don’t have food to eat especially if they are big families, because even if they got small amount of food they’ll have to split it to the whole family.

Different perspectives:

There are two theories or two perspectives to this case which are Poverty Is Individual and Poverty Is Structural.

Theory one:

The right-wing opinion is that poverty is an individual phenomenon. On this opinion, publics are in poverty because they are lazy, unschooled, ignorant, or otherwise inferior in some manner. If this philosophy were correct, it would follow that impoverished people are basically the same people every year. And if that were correct, we could whip poverty by helping that specific 15% of the population to figure things out and climb out of poverty.

Theory two:

The left-wing opinion is that poverty is a structural phenomenon. On this opinion, publics are in poverty because they find themselves in holes in the financial system that delivers them inadequate income. Because individual lives are dynamic, people don’t sit in those holes forever. On58e1 year they are in a low-income hole, but the next year they’ve found a job or gotten a promotion, and aren’t anymore. But that hole that they were in last year doesn’t go away. Others inevitably find themselves in that hole because it is a persistent defect in the financial structure. It follows from this that impoverished people are not the same people every year.
