It’s 8:00 am. I open my shades and admire the view from my Warren Towers dorm: sailboats drifting along the Charles River. This was the sight I woke up to every morning during my six weeks at BU’s high school honors program last summer. When my parents called, I raved about how inspired I was by Professor Crowley’s passion for finance, and Professor Jarymowicz’s ability to connect with students by sharing modern sociology-related videos. I told them about my new friend from Shanghai with whom I’d been practicing my Chinese. I competed in a true college environment and successfully earned two A’s.
That academic summer experience showed me that BU is a great fit for me. Through BU’s Behavioral Biology major, I could combine my interest in psychology with biology and follow my dream of entering the medical field. As a medical professional, my goal is to treat Chinese-speaking patients who struggle with English. BU’s strong Chinese department will allow me to continue my Chinese studies by minoring in Chinese and participating in the Shanghai Study Abroad Language program. I love discovering new cultures and cannot wait to befriend some of the international students. At BU, I would continue to be a Jewish community leader by participating in Hillel, leading services and volunteering for “challah for hunger.” I am motivated. I am hungry for success (and challah). I am a BU Terrier.
