A Career In The Field Of International Relations - My Calling

When I was young, I often used to wonder about things like rapid globalization, how laws were made and enforced; relationships maintained at various levels: personal, governmental, and international. This got me interested in knowing more about the vital importance in the regulation of all processes in the interconnected world of business, law, economics, etc and international relations in general.

During high school, most of my friends were sure and had chosen a career path for themselves. Those who weren’t, their parents made that choice for them. As for me, I wanted to explore my options before settling on one. To discover my passion, I started participating in various school activities out of which I found MUNs to be the best one and even got the chance to participate in Harvard MUN .This not only helped me enhance my speaking and debating skills but also allowed me to have a deeper understanding of the problems our world faces. I got to learn about the relationship that different nations share with one another. This was the way that many countries were able to come up with solutions for the problems through debates, discussions, and speeches.

I realized that International Relations was my calling and I wanted to make a future in it, where I will be able to help nations solve their disputes and form better relations with one another. Even as a child I was fascinated with it but never totally understood the complexity of it until high school.

I started to dwell deeper and learn as much as I could. I read various newspapers, reports on the world economy, and even saw various United Nations reports and conferences’ to learn new things. International Relations is an area which will help me specialize in understanding global issues that goes beyond any particular country or region.

The United Kingdom is the province that has maintained its relations with countries across the globe for centuries now. They know the need of the hour is to be well connected with other nations for foreign policies, trade, etc.

One of the reasons I want to study in U.K. is that I want a curriculum where I get a chance to explore various areas with international relations and just be restricted to a certain topic and the Universities here provide me with various opportunities to expand m parameters of knowledge.

The curriculum includes topics like civil war, international peacekeeping, and human rights and global justice which best suit my interest. Besides, courses like policy formation and implementation and foreign economy will extend my insight about globalization. By taking this program I could understand comparative analysis of development and social change, the politics and economics of cultural identity as well.

I believe the U.K. to be the perfect fit for all that I am looking forward to studying, which would help me get a wider perspective of the issues at hand and about the relationship that the various countries share. With all this knowledge and skills I would be capable to work for the United Nations someday.

I look forward to the day that I am given a chance to be a part of a university in the U.K. and study the program that I am extremely passionate about.
