Education is our generations greatest weapon. Education is governed with corruption, in order to improve a country, it is a must that those people are educated. In many circumstances, they are unable to achieve it. In some stances, if education is free, then maybe we will be a more developed country, headed in a better direction. I do not believe that college should be free and within should college be free essay I will explaine why I think so.
Why aren’t more people going to college and pursuing a post-secondary education? One obvious answer to that question is cost, especially the tuition. While some may say that this option is cheap, others agree that our economy is good enough to support the idea of free education. With this, students would be able to focus more on studying and get their degree, rather than worrying about how they are going to pay for school. As a result of this, people can graduate on time and begin working in the job industry.
The world is constantly and rapidly changing where daily tasks are required to be performed with a high knowledge skill set. I believe that it will dramatically affect many families that have just graduated from high school with children and are seeking a high education. To get a good career, most jobs require a higher education as a standard. If the price of education changes, it will affect everyone because of its easy accessibility.
One of the reasons this needs to change that I am going to mention in why college should not be free essay it is because of the amount of debt that people are in due to student debts that FAFSA or other large companies take the liberty of paying. It is harder to pay those debts when you are fresh out of high school, without a direct source of income.
High school students with the best grades, usually come from houses that have lower income, so they don’t necessarily go to the best schools for their post-secondary education. While they had good grades in highschool, they might feel as if they don’t have a choice in their education and end up going to the more affordable college. That is if they can even afford to go to college at all. It’s a waste when we could have brains that could be contributing to medical breakthroughs and leadership advances in all fields.
The extreme increase in tuition costs means that fewer and fewer lower-income students can attend college and the wage gap becomes larger. Those who do manage to graduate, graduate with crushing student debt. When people graduate with crushing student debt, it decreases their probability of owning a home, getting married, having children and gaining wealth.
The question of it working is a huge one. In other places, such as Denmark, Sweden, Greece, Mexico, and Norway, there are free tuition options for bachelors and masters degree levels. Contrary to popular belief, Europe does not spend more on higher education than the U.S does. Free college in the United States could very well work and be effective, as well. The U.S. does offer free community college already and so far it has not gained enough traction at the federal level.
On the contrary to discuss within should a college or university education be tuition free essay, students who pay for their tuition tend to be more motivated. There are plenty of students who are so smart, they will find a way to pay for college. With extra help from family, scholarships, and a little more extra work, they can afford it. For instance, there are plenty of financial aid forms, such as FAFSA, grants and loans which will help the affordability of college. Besides assistance from the government, a job is something that a college student must consider.
Many students either work full time, or part time while they are taking college classes in order to cover book fees, a small chunk of tuition, and other different fees. Having to work while going to school can be hard but it also offers the values of a hard day’s work that not many people get to experience.
College is not exactly a requirement, but it is much rather a choice. Nobody is forced to pursue a higher education and those that do attend college, are well educated and may be able to pay off those debts in the future. Free college may also mean the downfall of quality in education and students may not be able to get the appropriate education they need - these are the most stronger arguments that I can reveal for “College should not be free” essay.
Currently, education is the only key to improving quality and quantity of human resources in society. Therefore, it is becoming more competitive with time due to the unlimited resources that deny many students the chance of pursuing their college education. Making college tuition free means that there won’t be a hierarchy of educational institutions since all of them offer the same quality of education.
Since education costs parents a great deal of money and is a huge investment, they take time to ensure that their children achieve the most and that they improve their future. Due to the increase of unemployment across the world, it doesn’t make economical sense for the government to provide free education. The government should create more job opportunities before offering free tuition.
Someone has to pay for the education, it is not completely free. It is physically impossible to pay for quality education while students pay nothing. Making education free would mean that the money has to come from somewhere. The only options they have would be raising taxes or cut services someplace else. It does no good to cut vital services from other places. It only shifts the problem onto a different part of the population, it doesn’t solve it.
Some will argue that opening up colleges and universities would provide a greater opportunity to students. This is not the case. Even though education is not free now, it doesn’t exactly mean that people are prohibited to enter college. There are already grants that award the most excellent of students and the vast majority of college students are already receiving student loans to help pay for college. At the moment, there are no barriers preventing anyone from pursuing a higher education.
With the current student loan system, there are lenders that are much more forgiving and the repayments are much lower than a conventional loan. This system already allows students to climb up their career ladder before repaying their loans back.
Cutting fees would only make it more difficult to continue to improve the standard of education within high schools and colleges. If these institutions can not make a profit from charging their students, how can they continue to improve the work environment for them? They can’t boost their standards and invest in themselves. Overall, it would start a continuing decline of American education facilities and make the country less attractive to international students.
