To whom it may concern,

Hello my name is Erik Hyka and it is an absolute honor and privilege to have the greatest opportunity to be welcomed into the National Honor Society. Thank you for reading my application essay. I am glad to be part of this incredible community. As a hardworking, kind, positive and honest student, I have strived hard to get to where I am today. But I do not deserve all the credit as I have had help from my family and my teachers to have the personal, academic qualities to care for people and for my grades. When I was younger I always loved the sciences in how one thing reacts with another, and because of it I always wanted to learn more about science and how things work, as I have gotten older I have become more and more fascinated in the sciences and how it works. As a member of NHS with the vast resources given to the members of the society I could not only show people why I feel this way about science but also why they should also feel this way about science and how it works, and hopefully give people a sense of what they want to be and how they want to be it.

If I am made a member of NHS I would not only abide by the by laws but I would strive to do more not just for myself, but for my family, my friends, and my community. I want to join NHS because it is not only a community in which people with high academic achievements get in, but it is also a community that helps each other and other people achieve their goals and be happy for what they can achieve. If I did not care about my community or what happens in my society I would not have volunteered to help wipe and clean the park from trash and germs to make my community safer. If I did not care I would not strive to make a person feel better if I felt I said something wrong. If I did not care I would not strive to be the best person I can be. If I am made a member I would not mind at all participating in community projects, fundraisers, tutoring, or any of the other activities that NHS members do as they not only help me, but the people as a whole to make each other achieve a more safer and well-endowed place.

As a person who believes all of this and more, I strive to be a good example in school by not only having good grades, but by also making sure they are the priority in school. For example, when I am struggling in a class I always go for extra help with my teachers to understand what I am not understanding, and to see if I can do better. By being a good student in school I can be an example for others to follow, and probably even motivate them to be better than me. If I do not make it into the National Honors Society I will still try and be a role model for all of the upcoming students and help them be the best them they can be.

It is one of the greatest honors to be a prospective member of the National Honors Society, and as a prospective member I hope to be as good as I can be. If I do not make it into the National honors society, I will still hope to be as good as I can be, to not only help myself, but others I meet along the way who need not only my help but others as well. It is of a great honor to be chosen to be a prospective member and I thank you for giving me a chance to become a member. Thank you and have a happy and superb day.
