As a child, I was always fascinated by films and theater. I enjoyed watching the actors, admiring their skills, and being taken on a journey through the story they told. But it wasn't until a particular event in my life that I decided to pursue a career in acting.

'Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned'?

It was the summer before my senior year of high school, and I had the opportunity to attend a theater camp. On the first day of camp, we were instructed to write and perform a short monologue in front of the group. I was nervous, but I wrote a monologue about my grandmother's struggles with Alzheimer's disease. When I performed the monologue, I was surprised by the emotions that came up. I felt connected to the character and the story I was telling, and it was an incredibly empowering feeling. After I finished, I received a round of applause and was approached by the director of the camp. The director told me that I had talent and encouraged me to pursue acting. She saw something in me that I had never seen in myself before. From that moment on, I knew that acting was what I wanted to do with my life.

As I delved deeper into the world of acting, I discovered that it wasn't just about memorizing lines and being on stage. It was about connecting with the character and the audience, telling a story that resonates with people, and using my skills to bring the story to life. I began taking acting classes and participating in local theater productions, and I realized that acting was more than just a passion; it was my calling. I wanted to perfect my craft, to learn everything I could about the art of acting and storytelling.

As I began to research various universities and their theatre programs, the University of California, Los Angeles stood out to me as the clear choice. UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television has a reputation for producing some of the most talented and successful actors in the industry. The program's rigorous curriculum and hands-on approach to learning would provide me with the skills and experience necessary to succeed as an actor.

In addition to the program's reputation, I was drawn to the diverse and collaborative community at UCLA. The opportunity to work alongside and learn from students from various backgrounds and cultures is something that I find incredibly valuable. I believe that the shared experiences and perspectives that come from a diverse community can only strengthen my abilities as an actor.

My passion for acting has driven me to participate in community theater productions and take acting classes throughout high school. I am confident that the training and education I would receive at UCLA would further develop my skills and prepare me for a successful career as an actor.
