Application for Need Based Scholarship at Ny Film Academy

Things we do in life often have measurable results but the extent of their impact is often difficult to quantify. The New York Film Academy’s need-based Scholarship will have an impact upon me far beyond the obvious and measurable.

I am in my second semester of the MA Film and media production program, I am already feeling nostalgic with just one more semester to go. I have begun to Wonder, “How can I give back to this place that has given me so much?” Your financial assistance will serve as an example of the impact I would like to have beyond my graduation in the field of filmmaking.

In receiving this scholarship, I will be touched not only by your generosity but also instill greater confidence in me to uphold our shared desire to tell inspiring stories across geographical boundaries. You will not only help ease my financial burden but equally important, if not more so, you have allowed me an opportunity to see the impact such a gift has on a student’s point-of-view. Currently, I am financing the whole tuition fees through a loan which I have acquired from my bank in India. My mother works for the state government in India and my father is a civil engineer in the local town I hail from. They have supported my dreams in the best possible way they can in their capacity both morally and financially. Helping me secure a loan to pay the tuition fees by offering our family home as collateral was their way of showing their trust and support they have in my dream of spreading joy to the world through this wonderful platform of films. Just like some of the movies I watched as a child which has helped me get through bad times and fueled my passion to continually manifest my aspiration of being a storyteller for the rest of my life, to an extent that I quit my corporate job and finally mad that journey across oceans to be here, in Hollywood. This need-based scholarship would help me considerably by reducing the burden of lending from the bank. I feel a responsibility to uphold the expectations that accompany by receiving this grant from the institution. And, I feel an excitement to someday be in your position, giving back to the Institution that has helped me build the foundation and equip me to take the grit step in the coveted industry.

This fall, I will begin my career after I graduate from NYFA in Los Angels, which is only a dream for many, back home in Mysore, a city I was born and raised. With responsibility and conviction, I will step into the next phase of my life after graduation, I will remain strongly tied to my roots here at the New York Film Academy. This consideration for the financial aid will help me shape my collegiate experience and have an “immeasurable” impact on me.
