For as long as I can remember, I’ve answered the question “Where do you want to go to college?” with the same one-syllable, five-letter answer: “Brown.” My mother is a proud alum; my admiration of her intellect, plus magical visits to the campus growing up, hewed a path I hope leads me through the Van Wickle Gates in 2018. My array of academic interests range from molecular biology to Russian literature, so Brown’s unique Open Curriculum would allow me to explore eclectic pursuits without being tied to core requirements. Most importantly, my desired field of study, international relations, is a Brown forté. My ideal Brown experience would include extensive coursework with the Watson Institute’s renowned faculty, especially Ambassador Richard Boucher, who has given me good counsel this year. My life spent in four countries surrounded by friends of varied races, backgrounds, and orientations, makes Brown’s incredibly diverse student body of open-minded people my dream community. I am smitten with what I have seen of Brown - the eternal intellectual discourse on the Green, the majestic John Carter Brown library, quirky Providence, the incredible warmth of the community - and the chance to become a Bruin in my own right.
