Cu Boulder: Applying for a Master Degree in Foundational Studies

To whom it may concern,

First, please allow me to introduce myself. I am Koryna Aughe, but sometimes I go by Junie. I am from Indianapolis, Indiana and wish to become a part of the University of Colorado to work on completing Foundational Studies and general education classes. The University of Colorado Boulder sparked my interest when I was looking at the offered master degrees. In this application I state that my dream profession is of the sorts of an environmental scientist, atmospheric scientist, or geologist. I believe our nation needs more professionals like these because our ecosystems are ever-changing and sooner or later the new climates will become inhabitable to human life. For example, light pollution has grown to such a high level that the modern-day night sky looks nothing like what it did in ancient times.

My generation is the next in line to lead our country into the future and I am prepared to make sure we do it with honesty, commitment, and as a community who works together. Without the diverse population that the United States has established, we wouldn’t have the intelligence that we have now- for information is much more valuable when individuals work as a team to discover the answer. Think of it as a community’s “checks and balances” like what is established within our government. Knowledge may be the key to power, but it’s nonexistent without the minds of scholars and citizens from all around the world.

I believe the opportunities I may be able to find at the University of Colorado Boulder will be superior to what is available to me in my home state. One reason why I believe this is because CU Boulder is a diverse and all-inclusive institution which comprises a greater variety of opportunity and possibility for any individual who strives to achieve great things. The inclusive environment that CU Boulder upholds offers its students hope, integrity, and guidance to achieve each goal that one might set. My own long-term goals include furthering my education to become a great natural scientist and researcher, a loving wife and mother, and an active member of a sustainable society. Traveling half way across the country to pursue a higher education for myself is a huge step and would change my life completely; however, the CU Boulder environment gives me the ability to explore new ways of thinking, learning, and creating. The university’s welcoming atmosphere is an essential part of the community because it invites and encourages students to be a representative for- and achieve- inclusive excellence. Perhaps even our own actions will influence the start of a spectacular revolution.
