Every human being loves being comfortable. Whether it's napping on the good couch or wearing sweatpants on Sunday, comfort is bliss. But what if I said that I help to save the world while being comfortable? It might sound unbelievable, but fortunately it is true.
My clothes are made from recycled plastic bottles and re-purposed thread. For people who know little about the apparel industry (myself included), that might not make sense. Dirtball Fashion found a way to make jeans, shirts, hoodies, and even socks from recycled bottles and thread. I buy a large portion of my clothing from their online store. Sitting here, typing this, I realize how little and insignificant this sounds. Yet for me, it's anything but. Whether I'm walking through the halls in school, rehearsing with my theater group, or going for a run with friends, I feel like I am doing my part.
What I'm wearing reminds me that our society needs to be as environmentally aware as possible. To me, that's something worth smiling about every day. Sure, I drive and use paper, but at all times I'm wearing something that helps one of the most important causes in the world today: sustainable living. Aside from that, the socks are the best things on the planet. They make walking fun and are suitable for every-day use: basketball, running, or any other purpose. You would not believe that the jeans feel like sweatpants or other lazy-wear, but they do, and they are more durable than any other pants I've had.
Every birthday and Christmas list I've made since I discovered Dirtball Fashion has featured the company at the very top. In a world where our culture shoves mainstream brands down our throats, I found a company I can actually get behind. Comfortable, environmentally friendly clothes, and I've yet to mention they are made in America by American workers. How could anyone not fall in love with this concept?
I want to save the world, I want to be comfortable, and I found the way to do both every single day.
