I was born and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania. As a child, I always had a fascination with the way people think and behave. This curiosity led me to choose psychology as my major when I started college. However, it wasn't until a particular event in my life that I truly found my passion for the field.
When I was 16 years old, my younger brother was diagnosed with a mental illness. This was a difficult time for our family, as we struggled to understand and support him. I felt helpless and lost, and I realized that I wanted to learn more about mental health and how to help those who are struggling.
As I began my studies in psychology, I quickly realized that my passion lay in the field of clinical psychology. I was drawn to the idea of working with people on a one-on-one basis, helping them to overcome their struggles and live fulfilling lives. I was particularly interested in cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on changing negative patterns of thought and behavior to improve mental health.
When I started looking at universities, I was immediately drawn to Pennsylvania State University because of its strong psychology program. The faculty is well-respected and experienced, and the curriculum is rigorous and challenging. I was especially interested in the research opportunities offered by the university, as I believe that research is an essential component of advancing the field of psychology.
At Penn State, I am eager to explore the various subfields of psychology and gain a deeper understanding of the human mind and behavior. I am particularly interested in courses that focus on cognitive behavioral therapy and other evidence-based treatments. I am excited to work with faculty members who are conducting cutting-edge research in the field, and to gain hands-on experience through internships and volunteer opportunities.
I am also excited about the possibility of receiving a scholarship to help finance my education. Pursuing a degree in psychology is not only a personal goal, but also a financial investment. I am committed to working hard and achieving academic success, but I also recognize the importance of financial support.
In summary, my passion for psychology was born out of a desire to help my brother and others who struggle with mental illness. I am eager to continue my education and gain the skills and knowledge necessary to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I believe that Pennsylvania State University is the perfect place for me to achieve these goals, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
