Financial Aid Appeal: Why I Need This Opportunity

I recently submitted a BJU Financial Aid Appeal. I am writing this sap appeal letter example because I need to say more. My parents and I are very thankful for the help BJU has given us in my financial aid package. I am very excited that I have been accepted into Bob Jones University. I was so thrilled when I open my acceptance packet. I just visited the campus for the first time and its the most beautiful campus I have ever seen. Your university is my first choice and I hope you will provide me with more financial aid, so my parents and I can afford to enroll at your institution. I am sure that I will thrive at BJU. 

Like I have said, I am really thankful and appreciate the gracious offer but it still leaves my parents and I with a substantial financial gap. I would like to formally request that my information be revised on file and that any additional funding available be considered. Currently I have acceptances of admissions and financial offers from Georgia State University, Clayton State University, Grace College, and Oklahoma Baptist University. These Universities are my next 4 choices and have given me a better pricing or has less tuition. But out of all these 5 universities, BJU is the one that I want to attend and that might not happen because of the money. 

In this financial aid appeal letter example I am reaching out with the hopes that I might be considered for additional financial support. I am trying my best to make it more affordable for my parents and I. If I do not receive additional financial support I will be unable to attend my dream University. Right now my sister and I attend Bible Baptist Christian School where my father has to pay tuition. It isn’t easy for my father to pay tuition at the school I am at right now. I would love to attend BJU because it is a Christian university and I will learn and live in a Christian atmosphere. But, as a low-income hispanic family, we can’t afford BJU. Currently my father has his own lawn care business but it is small with only one other person and my father is the only source of income, while my mother is a housewife. 

To continue statement of financial need essay sample, I know that BJU offers many scholarships such as for the ACT and SAT but I do not qualify for them because my test scores are low. I’ve tried many times to get higher scores but it was no use and all I was doing was wasting money. I have currently wasted about 300 dollars on these tests. I know that by going to BJU, as I study my chosen major, I will learn more about how each subject aligns with my Christian values. I have heard many great things about BJU and how it is a wonderful place for me to learn more about God and Scripture, and makes friends who will become family. 

To end up the sample financial aid appeal letter, if I don’t go to BJU, I will end up going to a Secular University in my state, where I won’t be able to learn the word of God and I wont be able to nourish in my spiritual life.
