I grew up in a small town where opportunities were limited, but my family instilled in me a love of learning and a curiosity about the world. As I entered high school, I found myself drawn to philosophy and the study of the human condition. It was through the influence of a close friend that I discovered the depth and breadth of philosophy.
My friend, Sarah, was always full of thought-provoking questions and deep insights. She would spend hours discussing ideas with me, introducing me to the works of great thinkers like Aristotle and Kant. Through her, I began to see the world through a philosophical lens, questioning everything around me and searching for deeper meaning in life. This passion for philosophy continued to grow throughout my high school years, and I realized that I wanted to pursue this field in college. I was fascinated by the ways that philosophy could be applied to real-world issues, and I knew that I wanted to explore these connections further.
As I began my college search, I knew that I was looking for a school with a strong philosophy department that would provide me with the tools and resources to pursue my passion. That's why I was drawn to Claremont McKenna College.
Claremont McKenna has an exceptional reputation for its liberal arts education and a robust philosophy department. I was particularly excited about the interdisciplinary approach to the field, as I knew that I wanted to explore the connections between philosophy and other fields of study.
My interest in philosophy is not just limited to the academic realm. I believe that philosophical discussions and debates can lead to greater understanding and empathy, promoting positive change in the world. I hope to use my education to help others gain a better understanding of themselves and the world around them.
In addition to my passion for philosophy, I have also been deeply involved in community service throughout my high school years. I have volunteered with several organizations, working to support and uplift marginalized communities. I believe that community service is an essential aspect of becoming an effective philosopher, as it allows us to see the real-world applications of the ideas we study.
Overall, I am excited to pursue my passion for philosophy at Claremont McKenna College. I am confident that this school will provide me with the education and resources I need to make a meaningful impact on the world through the pursuit of philosophical inquiry.
