As a young adult, I was unsure of what career path I wanted to take. I had always been interested in business and entrepreneurship, but I didn't have a clear direction. It wasn't until an event in my life that I found my true passion for business.
When I was a teenager, my father started a small business that sold handmade furniture. As a family, we were heavily involved in the process, from designing and building the furniture to selling it at local markets. I remember spending weekends in the workshop with my father, learning about the different types of wood and techniques used to create beautiful pieces of furniture.
One day, when I was 16, we were setting up our booth at a local craft fair when a woman approached us. She was interested in purchasing one of our pieces, but had a unique request. She wanted us to build a custom-made piece of furniture that would fit perfectly in her small apartment.
My father took on the challenge, and I was involved in the process every step of the way. We spent hours sketching out designs and discussing materials, until we finally came up with the perfect plan. We spent weeks building the piece, making sure every detail was perfect. When we delivered the finished piece to the woman's apartment, she was overjoyed. It was then that I realized the impact that our work could have on people's lives. We weren't just creating furniture, we were creating something that would make a difference in someone's home and everyday life.
That experience inspired me to pursue a career in business. I wanted to create something that would make a positive impact on people's lives, whether it was a physical product or a service. I enrolled in business classes in high school and started researching different careers in the field.
Now, as I prepare for college, I am excited to continue my journey in business at UC San Diego. I am eager to learn from the esteemed faculty at the business department and collaborate with other like-minded students. I believe that UC San Diego's focus on innovation and entrepreneurship aligns perfectly with my aspirations, and I am excited to see where this path takes me.
I am confident that my experience with my father's business and my passion for creating something meaningful will serve me well as I pursue my degree in business. I am excited to take the next step in my journey and contribute to the world in a positive and impactful way.
