MS in Business Analytics to Become the Entrepreneur I Aspire to Be

Growing up in a business-oriented family motivated me to be an entrepreneur, so studying administration and management, and taking my father’s garment manufacturing business ahead was not only a goal but an ambition for me. My first step towards it was getting my Bachelors in Commerce, to learn essential business activities that were important for any business to operate and survive in the existing competitive market. As I started to assist my father in his garments manufacturing business, I discovered about the problems he and many other businessmen like him faced, as they were unknown to the modern-day technologies, use of analytics, comparing marketing strategies and business intelligence in decision making. For instance, last year we launched a new product line that involved casual wear for girls aged 4-10 years. In the beginning, it had a good response, but later sales declined as the products were incapable of breaking the competition. Additionally, the core segment also started to the hype in pricing and competition, and the situation became harder to manage. As a result, we had to close the casual wear segment. At that point in time, we a support system could have been crucial to assist us in getting insights about the situation.

Perhaps, it would have been a different case if small businesses like ours were also capable of using the power of analytics. Merging business analytics with business acumen will not only strengthen the organization but can also speed up the growth the same. I envision utilizing business analytics to help me empower my organization by creating a platform through which the untapped power of business analysis can be utilized. One way of merging analytics with business acumen is hiring a business analyst who will definitely increase expenses and could be an unviable option for small businesses. Whereas providing them with an economical and simplified solution to them by creating a platform which is simple to use, can help such businesses a lot by providing them insights, so they could make better decisions and can lower their risks of making bad decisions.

Attending David Eccles School of Business, at the University of Utah for Masters of Business Analytics would give me an opportunity to gain work experience while studying, so I am not a freshman to the industry. Furthermore, the intriguing thing about the course is, I have an opportunity to study subjects like machine learning for business application, six sigma for managers, statistics and predictive analysis, among other key subjects which will help me to get a step closer to achieving my goal of creating a simplified platform for businesses. Apart from academic, Salt Lake City offers a lot of recreational activities that are great for students with reasonable living expenses. Pursuing my master from your school would not only provide me with great academics but an opportunity to interact with people of diverse background and beliefs and to learn from their experiences. My dream and ambition of taking our family business to greater heights and staying ahead in this technologically driven world be invaluably benefitted by the comprehensive design of your course. The bridge between the entrepreneur that I aspire to be and me is the knowledge I gain from MS in BA, indeed.
